Cut out holes for recessed lighting in metal soffit. Cut like butter! Would highly recommend this tool. Worked better than expected.

The device is a sturdy aluminum casting and is well built except that one of the two ball bearings which supports the mill bit was seized right out of the box. I have not used it and will return it for exchange.

Cool idea but the included bit didn't even last 1/4 turn on the hole I was cutting. The set screw for the radius of the cut tool also doesn't seem to sit still, even after cranking it as tight as I could. Should have bought the Klein Tools hole cutter as it comes with an extra bit and a hex-key for tightening the radius setting. Buying a new quality Klein Tools bit pushes you very close to the Klein Tools hole cutter and you don't have to wait multiple days for new bits to arrive once the crappy Mutt Tools bit breaks.

Worked great cutting tile bridges for mounting ceiling speakers. (I bet you skip that step, don't you?) But if you break the bit they are hard to find and expensive!

Ultimately it is a useful tool and works well. There is a bit of a learning curve in: 1) Adjusting the bit depth. Mine came with the bit extended only minimally and the tool would not work. With no instructions included, I had to experimentally determine that it could be extended and should be extended. 2) How to hold the tool while cutting the hole. If held at the right angle it's like cutting butter. Hold it wrong and it doesn't cut at all. Hint: tip tool so tool surface is angled slightly as in photo 2. A shocking difference in performance.Like many others, I broke the included bit on my first hole. I found a replacement locally. The Malco CB works very well and seems tougher than included bit. The Klein 89551 seems similar. Although I do not have a before picture of the included bit, you can see in picture 3 that the location of the flat on the bit for securing it is different on the included bit and it limits the amount of extension. This was problematic in drilling the pilot hole and also in cutting the circle. if I were buying again, I'd buy the Klein as it has 2 bits of what i see as a better design (possibly more durable) and the allen wrench is also included for less additional cost than buying two more bits.

WoW! As a home based designer and prototype maker I needed to cut a simple 3.312 inch dia hole in a thin 24 ga stainless-steel. I did all the prepping because I was frankly expecting to battle this tool to cut the required hole. To my surprise this cut easy and remarkable smooth. It was like a dream come true. I was expecting to do alot of drum sanding to smooth everything out and spend at least 1/2 to finish the rough cut. Well that wasn't needed. It was like WTF ! This is a great simple tool. Hell I'm keepin this thing. I would highly recommend trying this to all u skeptics. WoW! Was I impressed. Im keeping this thing.UPDATE: THIS "THING" IS UNBELIEVABLE! I've been battling with large diameter holes for decades. It was always my "Achilles tendon". WHERE HAS THIS BEEN ALL MY LIFE ! I'm sure this bit will dull and I guarantee that I will buy another one of these (if I can't find a bit. I mean JFC! this thing is freakin perfect for my needs.

This cut perfectly round holes in aluminum soffit so we could add recessed lights. No fuss, no muss, no mess. Cut edges are clear, no burrs. Adjust the size, chuck it in a drill and go to town.
