Combined with wine bottles, they keep my outdoor plants moist for over a week. In large pots and planters I use two and in the hot summer they have performed well . They are a little fragile but the two that cracked were easily reglued. They were well packed for shipping and arrived in tacked.

I didn’t want to review this item right away until we used them for a while. So it has been about a month since we have been using them and one has broken, and we are using gatorade bottles and they don’t stay upright of the opening, there are no threads to screw it on. Other than that they ok, but I wouldn’t buy them again, maybe if they had bottles made for these and the base had someway to keep the bottles on. Very disappointed!

One cracked within a week. Water seems to run out fairly quickly. Even with a bottle of water in it, could not use to go on vacation

If you're like me, you've seen ceaseless advertisements for different terracotta oyas for your garden, but they can be very expensive and fragile. They're awesome if you get them, but considering how many I'd want for my potted plants, it just isn't feasible. I got these and really like them. Use a narrow trowel or something similar to dig the hole and loosen the soil. If you just try to shove a terracotta spike into the dirt, they will break. You need to use long-neck bottles, plastic will work, but glass is better. I've used really big sangria bottles and beer bottles, both work equally well. Another tip- soak the spikes in water before you put them in the ground. They are very absorbent, you don't want them to take water out of your soil.

Perfect way to use up those empty wine bottles! Had a painting party where we drank more wine. It made for a fun afternoon with the girls and a little gift they took home

I got tired of returning from trips to dead plants. These not only take care of that problem, but they make it easier to care for my plants while in home. They are breakable, so don’t force them into your planters. Make a hole and then press them into place. And don’t force your bottles into them when refilling each week. I have a lot of them, so I use a bucket to carry the bottles from the pots to the sink to refill. I’ve gone from needing to check on my plants every couple of days to just twice a week.

I had purchased some cheap plastic spikes with a spigot you can insert and they were a total waste of money. I needed something fast as I am headed on vacation soon. So, I ordered these, soaked them for probably 30 minutes as I was getting everything prepped, dug out holes in my veggie potted plants, dropped these in, and used 16.9 ounce Aquafina bottles. Perfect fit. At first I thought I had to cut a hole in the bottles but that just caused the water to overflow out of the spike. The goal is slow water release like the Terracotta Olla pots. As an experiment I put one in a pot with dry soil and one with dry soil. The wet soil still had a full bottle of water the next day. The dry soil had a half empty bottle. So, basically, this does the job.I also tried a 1.5 litre, but the neck was too long, same with 12 oz coke bottle. I also tried a Dasani 1 litre but the neck was too short. Same issue with aldi brand water.
