About this item

  • Bore snake Viper includes 33 percentage more scrubbing power over the original with a 3Rd brush
  • Hoppe's 20 Gauge shotgun Viper, clam bore snake with den
  • Bore snake Viper includes a bore guide for easier Insertion
  • Convenient new case for easy storage and Transport

A one pass solution, the bore snake Viper includes a bore guide for easier entry into the firearm bore and has 33% more scrubbing power than the original bore snake by using an additional integrated bronze brush to scrub out carbon fouling, while the tail clears the barrel of loose debris with a surface area 160x larger than a standard patch. The Hoppe's bore snake Viper now comes with a compact carrying case with a built in handle for easy storage between firearm cleanings. Hoppe's bore snake Viper den conveniently fits in a range bag or backpack to protect your bore snake brushes during transport. The lid of the snake den doubles as convenient pull handle that snaps into the clear case for storage.

I've used other brands before, but Hoppe's Boresnakes are better by far. Just accept that the best costs a little more and get Hoppe's.

Viper means three copper brush scrubbers instead of just two. Snake Den means the package rolls up neatly inside a protective plastic box, the pocket of your rifle case stays clean, and the boresnake stays lint and dirt-free.

The first one I got, the metal part that locks the snake onto the handle fell off before I even got to use it. A quick return for a replacement and all went well. The one I got is for a 20 gauge and the packaging is genius. The snake fits in the case and the top of the case becomes the handle used to pull the snake through the barrel. I have a 12 gauge Viper bore snake that is not of this design, this is a far superior packaging and usage design. I would hope/assume that all Viper snakes will eventually incorporate this system.I have bore snakes for rifle and pistol calibers but this one was the first one I bought for a shotgun. As noted in the title, I am a big fan of bore snakes and this one is no exception.

I almost never write a review. First I think this is a really good product and does a fine job for what it is designed to do. However, it comes with a plastic piece on the front of the bore snake to make it easier to feed into the bore of the gun, the problem is if you have a really tight turkey choke tube installed on your gun the plastic piece is too large to go through the choke tube (mine got stuck in the choke tube). The design needs to have a smeller piece of plastic to go through the tightest constriction choke tube (.555) or at the very least have a warning in the instructions to remove the choke tube before using the bore snake. Hope this helps someone from getting the plastic stuck in their turkey choke tube.

I buy Hoppes 9 products often. Cleaners, lubricants, protectants and bore snakes. I prefer the Viper boresnakes because they have more cleaning bristles than regular snakes and the Viper Den because it comes in its own plastic case which is great for storage of an oily boresnake. I highly recommend this product and use the appropriate snake on all calibers. Bore snakes are convenient to carry to the range or any shooting outing and are easy to run through the barrel once or twice at the end of the day until you can do a full proper cleaning. Most caliber Viper Den cases are about the size of a deck of playing cards or pack of cigarettes. The shotgun size case is a little bigger but easy to carry even in the gun case.

I have never cared for boresnakes in the past and never used them for pistols or rifles. With my new shotguns however, I decided to give them a try. Now I use them after every trip to the sporting clays range. Its just a quick dry swab through each barrel twice, followed by a third using a bit of oil on the last and largest section of the boresnake. Bores are clean with no visible carbon or other residue. I wipe the receiver and grease or oil the appropriate parts and I'm done. The whole process takes less than 5 minutes per gun. Once I have a thousand or so shells through these guns, I'll do a complete cleaning with light disassembly (extractors) and thorough scrubbing and mopping of the barrels, monobloc, et al, but until then its easy to keep the barrels clean and lightly lubed and ready for the next trip to the range with the boresnakes. I have both the original boresnake with den in 12 gauge and the newer Viper models with dens for 9mm, .223/.556, and both 12 and 20 gauge shotguns. They are so handy, I keep the Viper shotgun models in my sporting clays range bag along with a small bottle of gun oil and a small tube of gun grease. The others I keep in my rifle and pistol range bag. These make for the smallest cleaning kits around!

I like how the handle on this boresnake worked being part of the storage case
