I typically like/love Real Avid products. I own most of their stuff. To be blunt, these suck. I spent more time cleaning the broken patches or stuck jag out of my barrel than I did actually cleaning it. The patches would break apart where you speared it and jam up in my barrel. Wet or dry. I broke my Real Avid carbon fiber cleaning rod trying to get the jammed up jag out. I've switched to a parker hale style jag from Scheels, 1000% better after I figured out how to wrap the patch..

I tried thee real avid Bore-Max cleaning jag and patches. It provides the right amount of friction and cleans great.

These are used to help finish the job of cleaning the bore on your gun. They get more dirt and solvent residue out per pass, and make getting the job done easier and faster.

The brush is good. Normally I run a bronze brush through the bore 2 or 3 times, a nylon brush 8 or 10 times and use a jag to push a patch through. I repeat this 3 times. Using the Avid brush, which is stiffer, I only repeated the process twice, saved 33% of the cleaning time. I am not impressed with the provided jag. Using the provided patch, it is not as tight, so it doesn't seem to be as effective as the jag and patches I usually use. Also it is harder then the brass jag that I usually use so after pushing the patch through the bore I have to remove the jag from the rod before I pull it back through or I'm afraid I may damage the crown on the bore. I would recommend the brush but not the jag and patches.

They seem a bit loose in use. After following directions and cleaned my .223, cleaning until the patches come out clean, I ran a couple of toghtregular cotton patches through the bore and they did not come out clean. These patches may work well if you are cleaning after just a few shots, but after a ,match where you may shoot from 50 to 100 rounds in 3 or 4 hours, they just didn't perform to my standards.
