Used this bore sighter on my .17 HMR and it sends a good red dot out to 50 yards which is fine to get it shooting on paper

Sometimes the most difficult firearms to aim have the smallest bore. This is true for .22 calibers. This device makes aiming easier because you don’t need to put a laser into the firing chamber. This one sticks in the end of the barrel. You get the batteries you’ll need and a spare set.You simply push this gently into the barrel – the laser lights up as soon as the batteries are stacked in the housing – aim it inside anywhere you can get 30 to 50 feet of distance or outside at dusk or dawn so you can see the dot, and line up your sights.Inexpensive and works well.

*** See the bottom of this review for my star rating scale explanation ***The Verdict:RECOMMENDThe GOOD:- Easy to use- Spare o-rings- Spare set of batteries- Works in end of barrel or in chamber- o-ring size called out in instructionsThe BAD:- Not long enough to use with muzzle deviceChanges to get 5-stars:- On/off switch if possibleBottom Line:Worked perfectly out of the box, even when placed in the chamber. Spare parts and batteries are a nice plus and the price makes this an outstanding value.Details:I found this to work great right out of the box and the spare parts are always welcomed. My rifle has a muzzle device on the end of the barrel so this wasn't long enough to engage the o-rings and center properly. Luckily, they made it to the exact dimensions of the chamber and it fit perfectly and made it cleanly out the end of the barrel. This made it work even for my situation. The spare o-rings are very small so it is nice they include extras, but if you lose those they tell you what size you need in the manual. It also has four screws around the perimeter of the device so if for some reason you ever lose zero/center on the laser you could technically center it again.************************************************My Rating Scale:5 STARS - Item worked better than advertised and exceeded my expectations. The item provided more value than I anticipated and is a great deal. The item seems very well made and should last for a long time. (HIGHLY recommend)4 STARS - Item worked exactly as expected if not slightly better. Item appears to be made well. I have no major complaints, it just didn't exceed my expectations (Good value, well made, met expectations, would recommend)3 STARS - Item worked as expected without any surprises, good or bad, and did what I expected it to do (met expectations; might recommend if a good value)2 STARS - Item easily wore out or didn't work as well as described, was disappointing for the price, and/or was of poor quality (might return if expensive; would not recommend).1 STAR - Item easily broke/failed, did not match description and was not useful or did not worked as described (do not buy; return if possible; would not recommend; junk/waste of money).

This is a nice and simple boresight to use. Not a lot of set up (though check if it is true), and has a good dot at dusk. Not as great when full daylight, but that is not unreasonable. Be careful on entry and exit, as you can scuff your barrel, but that will be true with anything you insert.

I designed a stand for the Garmin golf launch monitor for in the simulator. It is plenty bright enough and easy to use. But it does eat up these little batteries very fast if left on for very long. The 3d print file is available free on Thingiverse!
