I just used this rifle scope adjustment tool recently and found it well built and easy to use. The magnet is more than strong enough to hold to your rifle barrel and the calibration lines in the were clearly visible through my scope. I will update my review after I test the zero set on my rifle later this month. My only recommendation is in how to align this tool to the center of your scope. Recommend that you shoot a laser light, or a string with bubble between the scope and this tool to line up and center the height of both lenses before adjusting. I am very excited to see the results!

Back in the day, people needed these things for scopes to get them onto paper. Especially high powered optics. The market however is just flooded with laser boresights that all the cool kids use to get on paper without wasting ammo. Older style collimator boresights can still function and work well if you're stubborn and stuck into the past, but this one is just not worth the hassle. It's magnetic and wont scratch up your bore and fits on any muzzle made of steel. However, it des not fit perfectly, and will not align up as a consequence. Using this thing, it's just not that secure, it moves around and tilts making it just useless. I guess getting a no-name one you stuff in your bore could work, but I don't really know why anyone should bother with this. It's kind of a regretful purchase for me because of that. Now if you like the style of bore sighting, be my guest, but man, you gotta avoid the magnetic one since it just isn't stable. Use a laser boresight or cold sight it in against the wall if you have to, you'll have a much better time and get pretty good results with it too

Busnell older version of this with the larger diameter lens was better and more useful in more applications where scope was higher from the bore axis. However, this works well.

I have used bore alignment tools for 60 years. This tool works very well, and at a very reasonable price.

Sighting in a rifle is much easier with the right tools such as this magnetic boresighter. It helps to properly align the scope on the rifle and the magnet on this boresighter is very strong and easy to set up the boresighter on the end of the barrel. Once the scope is set in place, then just a few shots at the range should get you right on zero. This boresighter helps you get to zero with fewer shots. Great idea!

I had a lot of problems using this to site my rifles in. never did get the crosshairs perfectly level. The internals are also a bit hard to see and literally got lost inside my Athlon argos FFP reticle. The athlon just made the thinner bushnell disappear. The product as a whole is solid and well made just not the right thing for my application and eyes.

I read the negative reviews from people who claimed design flaws for this magnetic collimator bore sight tool and had to shake my head at their ignorance. This tool CAN have alignment problems if the firearm bore is not perpendicular to the plane defined by the barrel crown. That's your gun's problem. The tool CAN also show erroneous alignment if the face of the magnet is not perpendicular to the collimated beam axis. That's a manufacturing problem. The collimated beam does not need to fill the entrance aperture of the scope. In fact, the output aperture of the collimator is smaller than the objective of most of my rifle scopes. The rifle scope only needs to see a portion of the collimated beam to form an image of the grid pattern in the scope. You can move the bore sight tool vertically or horizontally in the scope field of view and the grid pattern does not move relative to your scope crosshair. If you rotate the bore sight tool on the crown, then you will see the grid rotate relative to your crosshair. Simply rotate the tool until your crosshair aligns parallel to the grid lines. The alignment is trivial and you don't have to be an Optical Engineer for the company that builds NASA instruments that provide your nightly satellite weather images (that's me) to make this tool work.I used 8 rifle/scope combinations to test the bore sight tool I [purchased. Each of these rifles have been previously sighted in at 50 or 100 yds by benchrest firing live ammo at targets. Each scope has variable magnification, so I increased magnification until the grid pattern filled the scope view. I also set the scope focus (when adjustable) to the infinity position to optimize grid pattern sharpness. The tool was rotated until the scope crosshairs ran parallel to the grid lines. In each of the 8 cases, the vertical center grid line overlapped the vertical crosshair. The horizontal center grid line varied vertically from the horizontal crosshair, but stayed within the lower half of the center circle on the grid. This variation could be attributed to ballistic variation among caliber and ammo. I have not yet test fired a rifle/scope combination not previously zeroed to verify the round will hit paper. I have confidence from the 8 examples I dry tested the tool will work as described.

Does what it's built for. Keep in mind that where you place it on the barrel end will change you alignment. If it isn't centered your zero will be farther off. I would spend the extra cash and get the one with arbors next time. That way you are bang on with your bore.
