It’s heavier than a regular cake pan, the divisions are deep enough to easily pull the cake or bread apart. Unique shape with bees makes this pan fun!

This was a great pan. Lightly greased the pan and it had a great release. The size was great each peace is great for a serving. The appearance of the design was great. Definitely a large capacity. The downside is it is heavy.

I used to own several NordicWare novelty baking pans like this one, but sold or gave them away years ago because I hated cleaning them and didn’t feel like my cakes came out cleanly enough with a visible enough pattern to make them worth using.I don’t know why I decided to buy this one, except it’s so adorable and I love the individual portioning that happens with the pan. It is a gorgeous, heavy metal pan and it has really nice detailing in the hexagonal sections. My cakes still don’t form perfect designs so far, so I will try denser recipes and see if that works, but they look lovely anyway and my friends have loved eating them with me. I gave in and bought the Baker’s Joy spray, but I don’t know that it really improved things; I think brushing on soft butter and flour, or maybe even a light olive oil and flour, might work better. Will play with that part.As for cleaning, it was painful as they all are. There is no simple method to clean this thing. So many little corners and crannies. But it did come clean with attention to detail and a spare toothbrush for the hard to reach sections.Surprisingly, I’m willing to bear with that inconvenience this time. The cakes are just that nice looking. Now, if I had just held onto my NW rosette mini-cake pan…

This cake form has a very original design and is of top-notch quality. Heavy duty, good distribution of heat. Excellent.

I have made about 30 of these cakes now using a slightly modified recipe from the one provided. It delivers exactly as promised. It is easy to use, it is very sturdy, and above all else, it looks and tastes great. Some words of caution:You can use the recipe that comes with it BUT be aware that the recipe will overflow if you do not cut the ingredients by about a quarter. Nordic Ware's recipe for their pans always make way too much. The good news is that if you also own any of their other bee themed pans, you can use the extra to just fill those pans and make some other bee themed cakes at the same time (that's what I do.)This might be their worst pan to clean. There are so many little groves and sharp edges that even after a very hot soak with water and detergent you will still need to use a small brush or toothpicks to get everything out. It is always a task to clean these things. It is hard to argue with the results though, but the cleaning is always something I dread.Overall, it is still a great product and I would recommend it. People see it and they immediately want to try it.

The pan arrived today (fast shipping, btw). Nice and heavy, like all Nordic Ware specialty pans. I had been collecting honey-based recipes in anticipation of its arrival, and chose a honey donut recipe for the premiere bake. I used Baker's Joy with flour, taking care to cover all the sides of the honeycomb pattern. Spread the batter into the pan, couple of knocks on the counter to make sure the batter was even, and to get rid of any air bubbles. Voila! The recipe baked evenly throughout, and came out of the pan with nothing left behind. The photo was taken immediately after I turned the cake (donut?) out — as you can see, there is very little residue in the pan. A lovely honey glaze to finish it off, and you have a fun and beautiful offering for your family or any kind of gathering! I am imagining cake, bread, molded gelatin... anything you can imagine you can probably do with this pan. Two thumbs up from this long-time baker.

Like all Nordic bake-ware pans I own, this one was really solidly made and had high quality detail. There were some other reviewers that said they had a hard time getting their cakes out, but mine popped right out with no trouble at all. The instructions warn *not* to use regular cooking spray, but I did anyway and also used cake flour to flour it. I think the trick is you really have to tap it multiple times on the edge of the sink to make sure to get all the bits of flour out. It created nice crisp lines in the detail.I'm a professional baker and one thing I would add though is that the honey lemon cake recipe that comes on the box is not only dreadful, it produces enough for two pans. It's literally a sponge cake in that it actually has the texture and flavor of a sponge. (The glaze in the recipe is delicious though.)Since it reminds me of a waffle, I'm going to try baking a Belgian yeast waffle in it. I'll add an update with the recipe if it comes out well.
