Man had I'd know this stuff works like it does 4 years ago, i would have save a ton of time and money in replacing faded once or twice year and at a cost of $400/yr. Was so impressed, i bought some of the green just to try it on the grass. Look kinda silly with the only green year in the neighborhood in the middle of winter though. :) Now thinking about buying the rubber mulch (which we all know fades after a year in the sun) and just touch it up with this. Easy to clean up and just make sure you wear latex gloves when mixing and messing with the sprayer head. if will stain you hands... but who care right... THE MULCH LOOKS FANTASTIC! The pics are before i sprayed the grass

Easy to apply, looks nice and dark like the original color of the mulch I purchased from Lowe’s last year. Yep, that faded in a year. And instead of buying more, for half the price of a bag of mulch, I make the entire thing look new in less than 5 minutes. This little bottle will keep me from have to lay down new mulch for a couple years. Great investment. Perfect color match. Very satisfied.

When first applied it looked great and I was really impressed. Until a week later when it rained and all the color washed away. 100% not worth the cost, time, or effort.

Good value compared to remulching, works and blends well. Lasts about 3 months. Need a bigger size bottle for what we do. Cleanup is easy. Covers a good amount of space.

I was tired of replacing my mulch bed every year since the quality of the mulch was still good but the color was gone. I figured I would try this product. I put it in a small one gallon sprayer and it worked great. Mulch looks like new. It has been down for a few months now and still looks good. If it starts to fade I will just touch it up again. It is a small bottle but it goes a very long way as you only need a few ounces per gallon. I would definitely recommend this product.

Used this to refresh pine bark mulch. Worked great. Simple instructions. Would definitely buy again! *yes as mulch moves or blows away, you will see original color but you can easily touch up. Awesome product: saved me a lot of time and $$$$. Now, I'm buying green next, FOR THE GRASS!! 😁

Everyone complains about how fast mulch fades after it’s applied. So I stumbled upon this product and thought I’d give it a try. I bought a new gallon sprayer because I figured it’d probably mess up the one I use for gardening products. So here’s what I experienced.I removed the filter screen at the end of the hose that draws the fluid from inside the sprayer. In the sprayer tank I mixed 4oz of cocoa brown into 1gal of water. I wore latex gloves. First thing I noticed was how highly concentrated the dye is. It’s essentially oderless but it is dark and syrupy. You do not want this stuff splashing or getting on clothes, shoes, garage floor, etc. So be careful.First, I sprayed a bed that is bordered by grass so I could get the hang of this before spraying near the foundation or driveway. It worked just like in the description. Watching the transformation from dry, gray, craggily ugliness back to dark, rich brown was fun and kind of amazing. When you stand back and look at your mulch it looks exactly like you re-mulched your beds. Sweet! Now for the caveat. Despite that the dye is water soluble it will stain. Wear gloves, old shoes and clothes you don’t care about. Keep it off all concrete and garden decorations such as rocks, bird baths, gnomes, or anything else you don’t want it to contact. Mix it in an area where if it drips you won’t care. The instructions indicate rinsing overspray with plain water. This helps a lot but will not remove it entirely. Better to use a sheet of cardboard as edging while you spray. If you can get a helper to hold and move the cardboard as you spray you’ll finish much faster.Lastly, fill your regular garden sprayer with plain water (or have your garden hose nearby) and use it to quickly rinse off any overspray you might inadvertently cause. This mulch dye is great but no matter how careful you are it is messy. We put down enough to cover 8 yards of mulch and felt using this dye was definitly worth the effort. But you have to approach it like you’re “spray painting” and be mindful of overspray.

It definitely colors old mulch or leaves or even dirt. I actually like the product as it solves a problem for me of not having to add mulch on top of mulch to where there would be too much mulch! Instead I just spray the old mulch and done. The Cocoa Brown is a very dark brown, exactly what I was looking for as it is somewhat of a match for actual dark brown mulch. If I like the product then why only 3 stars? Because there is no way this bottle is going to cover 2400 sq ft. That is an area 24' wide and 100' deep. I used about 12 oz to cover less than 400 sq ft, that works out to about 1000 sq ft for the bottle. That makes this mulch colorant relatively expensive, I can buy 10 bags of actual mulch for the same price. Here are some recommendations BEFORE you start using the product. Get a 4 oz measuring cup that you will never use for anything else. Shake the bottle thoroughly. Mix into a tank type sprayer somewhere in the middle of nowhere. This stuff will STAIN anything. Wear rubber gloves and be no where near anything that could be stained. Wear old clothes. As for the tank sprayer, a 1 or 2 gallon sprayer would be fine but get one that sprays a big wide path and that sprays a lot at a time. I bought an inexpensive Chapin tank sprayer and it is not doing the job. It doesn't spray wide enough and not enough volume as spraying is taking a lot longer than it should. I am going to have to try another tank sprayer as I will be spraying at least 2 bottles of this mulch colorant.
