I have replaced my fuel lines and transmission cooler lines on 2 of my classic vehicles without these jaw pads. Let me tell you if you are working with AN fittings you need these pads. When I didn't have these pads I scratched my AN fittings as a rag in my vise just wasn't good enough. Both of my classic cars have fittings that are scratched because of this. Secondly, these vice grip pads keep the AN fitting in place without it moving or twisting while I'm inserting the hose. I wish I had these earlier as I would have done a much cleaner install of my AN fittings.

These 4" vise jaws help to add functionality to your bench vise. The jaws have have angled grooves to hold round or irregular objects horizontally or vertically, and have embedded neodymium magnets for easy mounting and removal. One pair is nylon for non-marring clamping and the other is machined aluminum for precise fit without deformation.They work best with a smooth jaw vise 3" or wider. I think they will work with textured jaws but those will likely leave marks or impressions.The nylon jaws have two magnets per jaw while the aluminum jaws have three and have a lot more clamping force. They clamp together for easy storage - just watch your fingers because they can bite!

Good set of vise pads here. What impressed be at the outset is how the magnets are set to make them easy for storage. Each pair (one set nylon, one set aluminum) has inlaid magnets primarily to hold them to the vise jaws, but also arranged to hold each to its mate so they stick together in the shop drawer. That's where they'll live most of the time, and half a set is not much help so keeping them together is a good idea.The two aluminum set is twice the weight of the nylon set -- almost exactly. But both have the same geometry of grooves. I realized that the vertical grooves will be helpful when holding a longer piece that might extend below my vise as I can shift these pads to the side, away from the center screw of my machinist vise. Obviously, I expect the nylon vise to be a bit more forgiving than the aluminum when clamping down.Well designed.

REVIEW: BRIFITOR Aluminum & Nylon Vise Jaws Pad, Magnetic Reversible Pads, AN Fitting Vice Jaw Covers, Multi-purpose for Bench Vice, holding AN Fitting Adapter, Two-Pairs, Black.I have damaged several pieces of work in my workshop in my garage because the vise damages the wood I am working with. I even have wrapped the wood in a washcloth to help soften the vise as it holds the items. Of course, it really didn't work.After trying these, I have had no damage at all. They work as they should and stay connected to my vise. I'm glad I found and ordered these. No more damage for y work!

These vice jaw inserts are very useful any time you need to clamp something without marring it. The aluminum pair will work best most of the time; but if you're working on something made of aluminum -- or anything softer than aluminum -- use the plastic ones instead.The magnets are very strong, and hold well to the vice jaws. With thin-jawed vices, however, the magnets are too low to be able to grab the steel jaw properly and rest evenly on top of it at the same time. This can make alignment a little more difficult than it should be. They would work better if the magnets sat closer to the top. Still, they do work very well; and this is really only a minor issue.Definite keeper.
