I wanted to retrofit a tail vise into my old workbench. This bench screw was a good, inexpensive--but still quality--way to do it. I used some soft maple I had laying around the shop and bought a few dollars worth of hardware to complete the job. I built the vise as a unit outside of the workbench. It works well.I could have bought a ready-made tail vise for a lot more money, but the reviews on all of the ones I looked at were mixed at best--and going that route would have required that I cut a chunk off my bench to make it work. After few minutes with a track saw, a hand saw, and a couple of chisels, I had a square hole in my benchtop to install the vise into.

Bought this to add a leg vise to my workbench. threads are well cut and the castings seem nice, better than harbor freight castings but not premium by any means. works great.

I like how easy it is to open and close when you get a handle put on and it puts a lot of clamping force to hold whatever you're using it for.

This bench screw is doing great in my leg vise. Even after the fact that I built the leg vice the bench screw is still holding and exceeding its own! For the money build a leg vice and use this scrape you can't beat it other vices or what $100 $200 ridiculous just build a leg vice and buy this! FYI: not that a person will ever need it although someone out there probably will, this bench screw allows me to have advice that can clamp something up to 12 to 13 in in width! Again I don't see myself ever using it but as far as clamping 3/4 to 1 in material I have no complaints. Yosy is da Most!

A lot of the things I get on Amazon tend to be import knockoff versions of quality tools and I was expecting something similar here. It turns out this is equally good to a Yost. The price is about the same so this I consider to be just as good.The threads are well machined and the action is smooth.

This is a great buy if you want power to hold something in place. Strong leg vice and easy to install as well.
