First, it does the job. It does a good job of holding onto items, but if you are holding anything delicate, you will have to add tape or some kind of pads to keep it from marring the item.The biggest complaint I have about it is that it is heavy and clumsy to use.That being said, there are a ton of these manufactured by others that look very similar on the market, so maybe it's the use that have for it that is at fault. Not really sure what most people use it for? My use may require more delicacy than others.

Cast Iron, heavy-duty, jaw faces grip really well. Great for holding small parts while using grinding wheel, no having to stop work if parts heat up. A little stiff operating but expect it to looen up a little with use as the paint at the base joint wears. Still functions as it should, would buy again

Not only did my order arrive a day early, the driver was very pleasant. I bought this product for my son for Xmas, he is a self-taught woodworker and this tool will help him tremendously when working on small projects that have lots of details!

Sturdy, handy vise. However, as received the hinge was nearly frozen (perhaps due to the paint) so the spring could push the jaws back apart, and the wingnut and washer would jam on the bolt threads while closing. I flipped the washer over, and used some WD40 to loosen up the hinge and a little light grease on the bolt and washer. It now works smoothly.Note that antique versions of these used to use a curved bolt, which makes operation smoother.
