I purchased these vice jaws to allow me to work on some of my guns. These provide good support for my projects and I like the magnets in the jaws to hold them onto my steel vice. I see that some people complain about them not being strong enough magnets but so far for me they have worked fine. I do have some rare earth magnets that are very powerful and if I have to change the magnets in the future then I will.I use these to hold the slides of some of my semi-automatic pistols so I can remove the front and rear sights. Many pistols have sights that are hydraulically pressed into place and these vice jaws help to hold the slides in place without marking the surface of the slides.I like the grooves in the vice jaws that help you to clamp various items in place while you work on them.Just remember to not tighten your vice too tight on your pistol slide as you can bend, deform or even crack them if you are careless. Using these allowed me to use a brass punch to tap out the old sights and install the new ones.I am happy with the quality of this product and if I need another pair I’ll reorder these.

First time used, two days ago. So glad I purchased these vise pads. Used them to hold several jumbo sized knives while I put a new edge on them. Not even a hint of a scratch and they held true w/o a sign of uneven pressure. Held by 2 magnets each, these liners were exactly what was required to safely, yet firmly hold each blade, which meant I could focus on cutting profiles w/ both hands. In the past, I held the knives, one at a time, w/ one hand, resting the back of the blade on my knee while profiling the blade w/ the other hand. Until now, that was by best worst option. Not very safe and not very effective because no matter how steady I tried, invariably I would rock the profiler. But now: Ta-daaaa! I have much better profiles! Yaaa! And I've much less of a chance of getting cut in the process. Yaaaa! Originally I planned to use these for holdin slide uppers w/ parallel sides. The intent was to steady while moving rear sites. Haven't gotten around to that yet, but sure are great for holding knife blades. Thanks Bessey, whoever you are. :). Nice vise liners.

I am taking a star off because the product is misrepresented in the photo on Amazon. The product I received is a carrot colored orange and I preferred the yellow color shown here. I ordered and have received the Bessey rubber jaws. I have the Wilton version of these vise jaws also which are exactly the same other than the color. Same magnets, which are fine by the way and hold the rubber to the metal jaws perfectly well. Same rubber. Same density or hardness. Same holes, same size. Same in every way except for color and price. There have been a number of reviewers which complained of the yellow color coming off the Wilton Jaws, but I did not experience that and I tried to rub it off pretty hard while it was dry. I was able to get some of the yellow off when I used brake cleaning fluid to clean the grease off the vise and then rubbed the yellow plastic with a white towel. A small amount of yellow did transfer to the towel but otherwise it seems not to be a problem. That was my experience for what it's worth.I preferred the yellow color of the Wiltons Jaws, but in the end, it was a small thing because they both do what they are supposed to do equally well. That is they protect material being held by the vise from being scratched or gouged by the metal jaws they cover. If you don't mind the jaundiced orange color of the Besseys, buy it. They are very handy gadgets and I can't imagine not having them.

These work just as described, magnets are just the right strength to sit on the vice jaws but still allow you to move them around easily. The pre cut holes come in handy too, really glad they molded them in. They do not have bump-stop ends so make sure you get them in the jaws correctly. I have a vice with 4in jaws so there's about 2in of excess material but thats not really a problem for me, and if I ever upgrade to a larger vice in the future these jaws will fit it. These are a must for anyone looking to do any sort of gunsmithing, which is why I bought them. They will also come in handy if you want to chuck anything up into the vice that you don't want to mar up. Only real downside I can see about these is that when your using them, you lose about 1/2in of your total jaw opening distance, just something to keep in mind. The picture is a little misleading; the ones I received are more orange than yellow in color, but that doesn't matter to me one bit. Other than that these are great!

I was expecting these to deform under heaving clamp pressure. They do, but it is minor and has no effect on subsequent work.To be fair, in most applications there is no deformation. I encountered a minor amount in one of the rounds in which I placed a 3/4" threaded object and I clamped hard - very hard. If you look hard enough you can see thread depressions. These jaws hold most work well and do a great job on delicate items. The magnets make it easy to slide the jaws left, right or remove. I have done some heavy clamping on the sharp edges of sheet metal and it worked great with no scaring of the jaws. The bad: they do take a fair bit of the vise's opening. I have a 4" vise and there are objects that will not fit with the Bessey jaws in, but will when they are removed. If someone wants to know the reduction amount, write a question in a comment and I will go to the garage and do the measurements. It is a good product.
