I wouldn't recommend buying this if you desk has a thick edge but also the handles broke very easily.

I got these on a deal for a few dollars and decided to use them for some 3d models and other hobbies and they work great for a little vice for holding stuff.

I didn't buy this to use in the traditional way these clamps are used. I needed a clamp I could use to hand press pressed eyeshadows and other cosmetics into little tins that go into makeup palettes, with enough pressure they don't break up during shipping for my customers. I turned this product upside down and clamped onto the side of a wooden soap mold I had and am using the part that is supposed to attach to your table to apply pressure to an acrylic disc that presses down on a paste like mixture of mica powder, clay and other ingredients mixed with a binding medium and alcohol. It works great for what I need and saved me about $130 buying a special machine and parts to adapt it. I get a good press on the cosmetics I am making with a piece of paper napkin/paper towel absorbing the excess alcohol and when I take the tin out, I use a textured hand stamp to make them look fancy. in about a day, they are dry enough for sale or use.
