Do not hold down the button. To prevent faulty operation, please ensure all other ceiling fans within range are turned off at the wall switch while pairing.(at the wall switch, breaker, or fan) To have multiple fans operated by a sinale remote control, you must pair the remote control to each additional receiver。

The instructions were weird. It tells you that in order to pair the remote with the fan, you have to shut off the circuit breaker. What they really mean is that you just have to cut off the power. Since my fan is attached to a wall switch, simply switching it off without turning off power to a large part of my house was sufficient to pair it.Once I paired it, it worked okay... except the fan on/off button didn't work. So I returned the item for a replacement. Replacement has the same problem, so the individual item was not defective, it just doesn't work correct for the Hunter 59453 Minimus Ceiling Fan 44".

I do not recommend for $28, keep shopping. This remote works & is easy to pair with correct fan/light. But the remote I received was scratched up & seams were separating & would not snap together tightly. This leaves sharp plastic running down the edge. This is very cheaply built for $28. Big ripoff.Yes it works for now but it really feels like a Mattel POS. Look elsewhere for a better quality remote.
