I really just needed the receiver (part that installs inside fan) but the extra transmitter allows me to have a remote, in addition to the original switch that came the fan. I have had to replace the receiver in another similar fan so it seems they last about 7-10 years based on my experience. The switch transmitters do last longer (still working for both of my fans).

The description does not CLARIFY clearly. I just found out the REMOTE.. is a case for the Switch that goes EITHER in the wall, or in the remote casing. And does NOT hard wire at all to the switch location. So you need a SECOND Wall switch to work at the wall. if you want to have BOTH options. :-( which is what i wanted to have. So now i have to order another switch/remote

The Monte Carlo CK250 Combo Canopy Receiver is a colossal waste of time and money. I intended to use this remote to control a ceiling fan from two separate locations in the same room. The product description misleads you to believe that this combo package contains TWO remotes., but deceptively is packaged with only ONE remote with two ways to install it: 1) in the wall installation, OR 2) in the remote casing. I will never order from this company again and I recommend that you do the same. The price for this product was ridiculously expensive for what you get...buy from any other company at over half the price..

Works perfectly with the fan I bought it to operate with--the Monte Carlo 5DI44WHD, Discus II White 44" Ceiling Fan. Too bad it wasn't included with the original fan.

This was purchased to replace a identical one on a fan. The dealer that sold it originally wanted twice as much as this one cost. The original one lasted 4 years. Don't know why but the light's remote receiver quite working. The transmitter can be mounted in the wall switch box or can be hand held. The picture shows two remotes but its really one remote used two different ways. The receiver that goes on the fan should fit most fans as it is small enough to fit above the fan under the canopy.

This little kit made adding a light/fan comb and controlling it when getting extra wires to the switch was not an option.GREAT kit

The remote is reasonably attractive and works as advertised. I particularly like the wide selection of faceplates and installation options. There's nothing hard about installing it, but the instructions were poorly printed and, even after you deciphered them, were confusing. One particular point to note: The "on" direction of the DIP switches on the transmitter is opposite that of the receiver; on one you push the switch up for "on", on the other you push it down for "on". They are labeled in tiny print, but that's easy to overlook. I had bought a used unit, and the transmitter switches were set to the inverse of the receiver code. It was pretty clear that the previous owner had reversed them and returned the unit because it wouldn't work. Once I reset the switches it worked fine.

I purchased this item based on the premise that it included a remote control unit AND a wall mount unit.In fact it has one unit that can either be inserted into the remote, or inserted into a wall plate. I have not installed the unit yet but since you can only functionally use one transmitter I would recommend buying the individual unit you want for $50 instead of $60+ for this one.
