Purchased February 10, 2024 / Reviewed January 11, 2025Item: TIME-SERT M5 X .80 Metric Thread Repair Kit 1508TIME-SERT is my go to thread repair brand. I have two of their kits and they're both great. They're expensive for what you get, but when you need them, you need them. Take your time and you'll get great results with this kit. You can buy the inserts from TIME-SERT separately, so once you own the kit, it's much cheaper after that. Very expensive, but I'd recommend this kit if you're in the market.

This worked perfect to repair stripped threads on my KTM EXC engine cases. The oil filter housing holes gave up the ghost and this was just the ticket. I watched the Youtube videos and then did it, didn't even need power tools. Works great. Use red loctite between the case and the outside of the Time Sert. I used the 10mm long inserts.

I'm definitely not a mechanic, after all I stripped-out the threads of the oil filter cap screws on my motorcycle (KTM 690 Enduro R). But after sulking and stressing about a solution, I decided to use Time-Serts; one of my better decisions! My advice: take your time, watch their "how to" YouTube videos, take careful measurements and work slowly. These worked extremely well and prevented me from purchasing a super-pricey replacement for the entire right-side engine case. Thank you Time-Sert!Pics are of the finished product, prior to re-installing the oil filter, cap and screws.

Kit worked great and the instructions were very good. You will need a manual t handle tap wrench and a good bench drill to properly utilize this.

This works great. Wish I could have purchased the counter bore, and driver separately, as I already have a tap and die set, and good drill bits. The price for the inserts alone aren't bad, (usually less than $2 each for this size) but $70 for a one size only kit is steep! I used a drill press to make the repairs, and it couldn't have been easier. If my repair wasn't in a high temp/high vibration area (power valve on a two stroke motor) I would have just used a Heli-coil kit and it would have saved a lot of money.

I've used the spiral thread repair products and other insert products before and the product in my opinion provided the easiest and most reliable thread repair. I repaired threads in small engine were two of the head bolt threads had stripped with minimal material to drill out for an insert. The timesert tool was very easy to use. I didn't even need to use a drill. I used a tbar handle and followed the instructions in the kit. I did opt to use loctite high heat red on the threads as a extra precaution though I'm not sure I needed to. In minutes north inserts were installed with a nice flush finish. I torqued the head back on with out any give in the threads. Extremely satisfied
