I like that it is longer - 14". Most ring mandrels on the market are only 12" or 13". Also I like a rubber ring in the groove between working surface and a handle to prevent scratching the surface .The things I do not like are that it has also British sizing opposite to USA sizing, living no unmarked space for work, the surface is overpolished right after lathe skipping very important surface grinding step. The ends are not flat for some reason. The manufacturer did not specify the level of hardness on Rockwell scale (HRC). Good mandrel must be hardened to 60-64 HRC. Because it is made of stainless steel I doubt that it is hardened to this level, if hardened at all.Feels like that it is a cheap knock off imitating Pepe mandrel.I returned it.

Uff que exelente pieza de acero , ideal para la joyería , solo un detalle ,medidas no coinciden con las de México ,pero detalle mínimo, funciona de todos modos y estoy muy contento ,gracias al vendedor ,recomiendo

This is a quality mandrill. It’s heavy and comes with a rubber band around the base so it doesn’t roll around surfaces. I’ve checked the measurements with a set of ring sizers and it’s accurate.
