I haven't used it much yet, but it seems to be good quality. There was no rust on mine like one of the other reviewers had. So far I've used it for some pattern routing on my router table and it performed better than any other pattern bit I've ever used. It cut hard maple like butter with no burning and I had zero tear out on the end grain. As long as this tool lasts it will be well worth the investment....

I bought this solely for edge jointing on my router table. It looked like the perfect tool for that job. Basically being a mini-helical cutter. And it very well may be a great tool (and I'll update this review when I try it). But, I'll need to hold off on doing that review. The reason, the cutter head arrived with rust in quite a few places.Seeing rust on it straight out of the package was very disappointing. I've pictured this for reference. Yes, it is likely just surface rust, and can probably be cleaned up. But who knows how much more might be under the individual cutters. And I wasn't about to pull every one off to check.Beyond the rust, it looks like it'll be an absolute tank. It's hilarious just how much bigger this thing is than a traditional bit. The overall machining looks fairly nice. I did see a couple of spots with some small metal shavings that weren't removed when they cut the flutes. But those came right off after a quick poke with a needle point pick. And are purely cosmetic. The individual cutters feel super sharp. With clean, crisp, and shiny edges. So they should cut really well. I know they're supposedly carbide. Not sure what quality, so it's uncertain how long they'll hold their edge. But even if they don't last forever, I'd expect to get a ton of mileage out of them. As each one can be rotated and used across 4 different edges. Not to mention there are 10 additional replacement blades included with this kit with this particular kit. Which would add up to 96 individual cutter edges that are available for use.I'll update this review once I get the replacement and am able to use it. And will certainly bump up the star rating if it works well. But for now, 2 stars is the best I can offer. If it were only $30-$40, I might be more generous. But for $130, that's simply unacceptable that the tool would arrive with rust/corrosion. Hopefully it was just a one-off issue. Regardless, I think you'd be wise to keep some protectant on the cutterhead to mitigate the chance of any rust popping up.I'll also be testing this head-to-head with a spiral style cutter (i.e. up cut, down cut, compression cut). Since I don't have a dedicated jointer. I'm really shooting to optimize the cut quality and performance when jointing on my router table. And will share my findings on which I believe turns out to be best for this specific use case.

The first job I used this bit for was shaping a guitar body out of black limba. It did not seem to matter at all whether I was cutting end grain or long grain. It left a perfectly smooth surface with no tearout or scorching.
