This is a good set of snap ring pliers for occassional use, and I like that I can unscrew the bolt and switch them between opening outward or closing inward. That versatility is really useful. However, the screw tends to loosen quickly during use.When I first received the set, all the screws were loose and rattling around in the case, so I had to tighten everything before using them. The blow mold case isn't molded correctly for some of the pliers and they have a tendency to come loose in the case. I also noticed that some of the pliers open slightly offset from each other, see picture. I’m not sure if that’s just how this design works or if it’s a machining issue, but when trying to remove some snap rings, they occasionally pop off unexpectedly. Overall, the set works, but it has a few quirks that take some getting used to.

If you are looking for a good basic set to use once in a while, this is for you. If you are looking for a set to use daily you may want to look towards a higher quality. This set is ok, but it is a basic set that is base quality. It works for what I need but I only need it once a year.

These snap ring pliers seem sturdy and feature a screw mechanism to switch between internal and external snap ring use. However, the flat handles aren’t very ergonomic. I wish they were thicker for a more solid grip.Another issue is the blow-molded case. The one I received wasn’t the same as pictured in the description, and the pliers arrived rattling around loosely in the case, making it frustrating to figure out how to put them back properly. While I do like these pliers, I also own a more universal set from a name brand that has interchangeable tips and switches between internal and external with the flip of a switch.Though I’m not a fan of keeping track of all the easy-to-lose tips, my other pliers are both more ergonomic and take up less space. I’ll probably keep these around for larger or more difficult snap rings, but for most jobs, I’ll stick with my other set.

This review is for Snap Ring Pliers Set, .038in - .09in for from the LuckySlycyc Store, $32 on amazon.Set of Straight and bent ends (9”, 8” and 6” long each).Uses removable thumb screw pivot (typical) to convert between squeeze/compression and elongation/expansion.Non removable tips.Every tool fits nicely into the provide plastic case with press fit so no falling out.Rubber-like handles for sure grip.

I tested one of these pliers on a snap-ring. It worked just fine.The Good: 1) The kit contains a nice variety of types and sizes of pliers. It would install or remove just about any commonly-encountered size of snap-ring. 2) Like most snap-ring pliers, these are reversible so that each set of pliers can handle internal or external snap-rings. 3) I like the inclusion of a pair of picks to help coax out the occasional stubborn snap ring.The Bad: 1) The fit and finish of the kit is adequate, but not excellent. There are no problems that would impair the function of the pliers. There’s just a couple of rough stamping marks in the metal, very visible parting lines in the handles, etc. 2) The box itself seems sturdy, but the latches do not. There are a few molding flaws inside the box. It holds the pliers, but not securely. 3) The ad needs to be more accurate in its description and photos. Compare my photos of the kit I received to the photos and description in the ad.Overall:I use hand tools every day at work. The kinds of machines I work on only use snap-rings rarely. I probably install or remove a dozen snap rings per yer. For occasional use like mine, this kit is will do the job. If my job included daily manipulation of snap-rings, I would want a more finely finished kit of pliers.
