Works great if you do a lot of unsoldering on through hole components.

A little flux and this is all you need to de-solder not only SMD packages, but stubborn through hole (and through 24 layers of ground plane) pins. Ok, a little solder wick works too. This ingenious metal lowers the melting point of solder (a lot!). It lets you melt all the solder at the same time on the part you are trying to remove, therefore making it a breeze to de-solder without damaging it and/or the board.

I feel like low melt solder used to be a lot more expensive... I bought this thinking it might not provide some of the same advantages to removing sensitive or large heat-soaking components as some of the more expensive product out there, but I was wrong. This is a great value all around.Just make sure to wick it all away when you're done, as it is significantly weaker as a material than normal solder -- by design, of course.

This product worked well for me on several occasions so far removing power connectors on my Gameboy SP that was was modding to USB-C.The ground legs are notoriously difficult to keep solder molten and remove.I was able to use the low-melt which stays molten for quite long I must say to remove the legs and pins all at once!It cleans up easily too with solder wick or suction which is nice. The only Negative that it's a bit expensive for what you get but it does work well, so I'd buy more once I use up this batch.oddly some components I found it difficult to get the low-melt to attach to initially, it helped to use flux though. not sure if anything can be improved upon for it but just wanted to mention it.

Overall I am happy with this stuff as an alternative to chipquik. It seems to work almost as well; It does seem to require a bit more flux than the original chipquik brand but overall it works well.

Works great! Low melt can always be a little messy but that comes with all of them, however it works excellent for removing components that have plastic and several pins, they can be easily removed damage free. Should be on every electronics workbench for sure, and this brand works better than many out there.

After dipping my toes into the Nintendo modding world, I decided to rig up my old GameCube with a battery holder to help with replacement of the internal soldered in CR2023 battery and replace the stock orange LED on the unit. That being said the solder works like butter. I went in low and slow with a little flux on the pins and my iron at 350. The solder melted nearly immediately amalgamation perfectly with the old solder. Two clicks of the solder sucker and there was nothing left to hold in the LED, two more and the internal battery was out. The board also cleaned up super nice with solder wick after. See my photo for the aftermath of the LED install.

The price per metre is way less than the same product from Chip Quik

I've been fixing radios for 40 years and when the new surface-mounted components started to immerge it became an issue to remove large IC. I was skeptical at first till I had to remove a 40 pin IC from the radio and I didn't want to brick a customer's radio. I found this alloy that actually works fantastic for large IC removal. For modern day electronics, this is the best it makes it so easy to remove large IC's from a circuit board
