The amount of flame was impressive, looked like a real campfire. Put out a decent amount of heat, too, not too hot, but enough to feel it on a chilly night. It smelled like a typical candle. However, the amount of thick black smoke that continued to rise from the flame, even after 20 minutes of burning was a problem. Due to the black smoke alone, I do not recommend this firepit can.

I am a full-time nomad and live in nature as much as much as possible (forest, desert, mountains, etc). Since I spend a lot of time in places that are barely recognized as campsites (if at all), it’s often unreasonable to expect a fire ring, so I like to bring my campfire with me. I also prefer not to smell like campfire smoke and don’t need a huge bonfire. So this cute little Radiate checks all of my boxes. When all cones are lit, within 5 minutes the flame is about 2 feet high. Sometimes if I just want the ambience of a fire but don’t care how big it is, I light only 3 or 4 cones, which has prolonged the burn time of the original wax.As an experiment, I let the fire burn until most of the original wax was gone, then added smallish chunks of pure beeswax to the tin while the fire was still burning to melt the wax and refill the tin. I have been able to do this twice now and estimate this tin’s total burn time to be 9 hours and climbing. So, I don’t rate this product very high for overall value, because if I had to buy a new one after 3-5 hours of burn time that would get expensive very quickly. But I DO rate it super high for solving the desire for a portable campfire, along with the fact that, so far anyway, I have been able to refill it and avoid buying a new Radiate every few days. Even if I can’t refill it forever, I have ideas for how to make my own if I want to…and if I don’t want to, I will happily buy another Radiate.

We went backpacking in Desolation wilderness, which calls for no gas and no wood fires. This fit the bill. Surprisingly great amount of heat. Very heavy addition to our bag, which we debated, but were all thankful for springing for it in the end. It started raining and both our tents were huddled up together under one tarp. We put this candle in-between and quickly the flame got too big. So, we grabbed some rocks from all around and made a little fire pit and put it in the middle (put a rock under it, too, as the base gets hot). We were super impressed! We even made s'mores!!! We got the eucalyptus one because we wanted natural bug repellent, but the smell was pretty awful in such an enclosed space. Might not be bad if no rain and no tarp, but I wish we brought one regular one to compare. It lasted more than 3 hours in the windy night (we used it the next morning for over an hour). Just top it and fire is out, no coals to leave a trace, nothing. Highly recommend for no fire areas as it is safe and gives you the camping feel!

These were for a retirement gift for a friend and her husband. They enjoy camping and this was a great gift they can quickly set up to use to just relax with the eucalyptus one or for some ambience or even a quick marshmallow roast on the plain one. These went well with the camping theme of her celebration.

Smart idea. Avoids having to collect kindle and logs to start a camp fire. Instead you pull out this container and light the contents and there you have it - a portable campfire! Can be easily moved from spot to spot .

Brilliant invention! Bought for husbands birthday, took to beach with kids - ideal for marshmallows and very portable. The lid puts flame out instantly so felt very safe but gives off a great heat. Delighted!

This is amazing! I cannot start a fire for my life and really missed the campfire experience. When I saw the Radiate portable campfire, I was a little skeptical, but curious enough to buy one. This is the coolest campfire I've ever seen and it burns just as bright and lasts longer than a wood fire. The packaging is earth friendly too. It looks like it will burn around 10 hours but not sure. I'm go il n to buy a couple more for my next trip. Don't want to cook with this, its just for the fire itself. Easy to put out too. It is totally worth the price.

I purchased this for a beach camping trip that I cannot have an open fire. I lit it on my front porch and was pleased with how much light it gives off. It does give off heat as it is fire, but I did not purchase it for that reason. The fragrance is lovely as well. It is soft and not overpowering. I am very happy with it. No mess and no fuss. Simply put the lid on and you're done. Such a good invention. The can will get hot, so make sure you have it on a surface that will not burn or get damaged by that kind of heat.
