This fill spout is smaller than others I’ve had in the past. Check the images before buying, but it does come down to user preference. You can use the threads to do some water or filter connections, etc.

I used this for a bike packing trip in Joshua Tree. It was ~95 degrees (F) the whole trip, so a lot of water was needed. This thing was a lifesaver. Fit it in my triangle bag on my bike and wrapped the tube by my handlebars for easy access. No issues the whole trip.

The Hoser was the only system that made sense to me when I first got a bladder in 2002. The hose can just be moved to another bag when the first empties. Weight is another advantage as there's no large heavy lid in the side of the bag. It is similar to systems using disposable bottles in weight. I seem to buy a new one of these every 10 years, so it was time for the third. The bags never grow crud, but after 6-8 thousand miles, they can wear out. I recommend against folding the bag for a longer life. The hose and bite valve need to be dried out if it's not being used, so there is some care required. (Pop off the bite valve and hang up the hose to drain.) The hose is usually a couple inches too long, but it can be cut down on the barbed connection side. Careful not to cut down too much, it can't be added to as easily.I managed to get a leak with the first one once, but it was user error and they've been redesigned to reduce the chance of that particular error. (Longer threading -> less chance of cross threading.)

I really wanted to like this product; I have had three of the normal Platypus collapsible water bottles for over ten years and they're still going strong, so when it was time for a new hydration bladder I picked the Platypus Hoser. Big mistake. I put the first one in my pack and less than a mile into my hike I felt water running down my back. The seam on the side had split open about 1/2 inch. I gave them the benefit of the doubt and exchanged it for a new one. Today I took it, filled only about half full, and made sure I was gentle in sliding it into my pack ... didn't want it to catch on anything that may cause a leak. No luck; this time I didn't even make it onto the trail. Picking my pack up out of the car, water was running all over the place. This time about a one inch split right on the seam down towards the bottom. I don't know what's happened to Platypus, but they sure don't make them like they used to. I'm sending this one back for a refund.

I got the 3 liter version because I always have the option to carry less if I choose, but I like having a full 3 liters available for use. However, you will need a decent sized backpack to hold the container. The clean taste thing seems reasonably true after a period of time, but the first few times I could taste/sense the bag even after washing the best I can.Due to the size of the bag and the small opening, it is pretty much impossible to scrub out the interiors of the components. I have been hanging it upside down after using it and rinsing with soapy water and I have not seen any molds in the straw or the bladder. I am keeping hope that this will continue.Overall, I am happy I upgraded to the bladder from using bottles when hiking. It is very very nice to take a swig while walking then having to wait for a stop and taking off my gear to get to the bottle. I am surprised it took me this long to get to using water bladders. I used to think it was a bit gimmicky for weekend warrior hikes, but I stand corrected.

As always from platypus an excellent product. Nice and narrow so I’ll fit in bag large or small and you know it will not burst. Well worth the extra money.

Never been a fan, always ended up being a one & done type of deal. This year we ended up spending a good amount of time in the mountains both scouting several extended trips and an extended hunting trip for Elk. While not perfect, these bladders are heads & tails over any of the other similar products on the market. The only issues we experienced were when the water froze in the tubes but that's not the fault of the bladder that's what happens when you're out hiking for 14 hours in single digit temperatures and we learned real quick to keep that water flowing. These bladders are much more durable and well designed than other brands and I'll be using them going forward.

No cover for bite valve mouthpiece is included so you need to pay 20 dollars more for a separate cover or use this without one in outdoors environments (where if the mouthpiece comes into contact e.g. with the ground, it picks up dirt).

I've used only Osprey and Camelbak water bladders in the past but decided to try out Platypus as I needed a larger bladder for longer hiking trips. This thing is super easy to fill up, super easy to clean, and it doesn't leak! I also throw it in my pack with tons of gear and it hasn't popped or torn. The system is super simple with minimal valves which makes it so easy to take apart and clean. And from the very first use there was no plastic taste. I'm very happy with this bladder and will order more from this brand in the future!
