I have purchased two of these bladders. Not because one failed. The second bladder was a bigger size so I can have more water on hand and back up. It’s been over a year and there have been zero issues. No weird tastes. No leaks. I always recommend this bladder to my friends.

I bought this and a 3 liter Hydropak Shape-Shift to determine the best system for off road motorcycle riding. The Platypus was the clear winner, even though it’s $20 more. The Platypus Big Zip Evo has a more comfortable shape, seems to be better built, and has a longer hose than the Hydropak. I also like the hose removal mount near the top, and the pinch system that makes filling and cleaning easier. The first run of water through it also had no unpleasant taste, as advertised. That has not been the case with the Hydropak products I have purchased. Both are good options, but the Platypus was the one I kept because it fit my needs better than the Hydropak. To me, the additional expense was worth it, given the features.

First and foremost, this DOES NOT make your water taste and smell like plastic or rubber. You'll get fresh-tasting water every time. The design of this is also very thoughtful, with a rigid plastic grip that one can pinch to keep the "ziploc"-type top open when filling. This alone would be worth the purchase. There is also a plastic "spring" on the inside that holds the two halves apart to allow for complete drying. The bite valve has a much wider opening than all others I've used, making for a far more pleasant and easy drinking experience.Yes, this is expensive, and yes its plastics are rigid compared to others, but those are small prices to pay for how great this is overall.

The bladder itself is made of a reasonable quality. Only there is a technical downside; the hose outlet is placed in a position that there wil be a bending of the plastic happening right in the seam on the bottom of it. I think this may cause a ealier braking of the system in time which dosn't ashure me the valleu is worht it. For the rest it is made of a reasonable thickness so the rest of it wil probably last for a long time. I bought this drinking bladder becouse it markets no taste and smell. Previous I bought another brand that smelled awefull like chemicals. This one smells a little bit and still tastes a little bit like plastic so the promise failed to my opinion. I wil buy a carbon inline filter that wil filter out any taste of (chemicals) the plastic. The b

This is my first hydration bladder. I have the Marchway backpack, but when it comes to water, I look for a more trusted brand and look for PFA free.Just took this out for it's first trip and here are my thoughts: 1. No flavor at all!! Very surprised at how flavorless this plastic was. I can be a bit sensitive to plastic flavors. I cleaned with tablets before first use. 2. It needs a dust cover. It's absolutely absurd that it doesn't come with one. 3. It's not as easy to clean as I thought it would be (the opening isn't as wide as expected), but it's not challenging either. 4. Good flow rate. 5. The baffle probably helped with preventing sloshing and helped it feel lighter. Paired with the Marchway bag, this 3L was very light and comfortable. 6. The hose clip does not hold this larger diameter hose very well. It popped out several times. Not a big deal, but a bit annoying and it may pose a bigger problem when trail running.Overall, I'm very happy with it, but they seriously need to include a dust cap.

Oh, how I wish I switched out my camel back pouch sooner. That thing had to be sealed jussssssssst right so it didn't leak. Open. Close. Open. Close. Tilt it over. Does it leak? Yes. Undo it. Re-do it.Zero issues with this. Water in. No water out. Other than sipping. No bad tastes either. My only small gripe is it can be difficult to suck the water out. You do have to get the bite just so to get the flow.

Took this guy backpacking with about 11 hours of walking.I like the big opening on top, which makes it easier to refill, pour water out, and dry! The blue thing that's used to lock the top will fall if you carry it by that, so don't do that as it's not meant for that. I also like the detachable hose, makes it easy for me to get it out of my bag if I just need the bladder. There was no plastic taste for me since I first got it. Stood up to my abuse of trying to really put/squish in my pack. The first time I did put it on my backpack though, I filled it to 3L with a full backpack and a couple of minutes later I realized that it had started to leak a lot. I took it out and saw that the bottom tube connecting to the bladder had slipped out and that was a hassle. I made sure to fully insert the tube to the adapter connecting to the bladder, and while I was weary for a couple of times after that, it never came out again! So just make sure the first time you get it that the tube is all the way in.

I have used Camelbak hydration bladders in the past and so I was hesitant to change brands. To be honest, after trying both, I much rather prefer this pack by Platypus for these reasons:1) Absolutely NO plastic taste on the first use, not even after the water sat in it for a few hours. Hallelujah! The Camelbak has always had an off taste to me.2) The zipper on the top (vs the circle on the front of the Camelbak) makes filling a breeze, and refilling even more of a breeze. One simply has to open the top instead of digging into the pack to find the circle twist cap!3) I found the bite valve bigger and easier to use.4) Since the opening is large and on the top, I found it much easier to clean and also to dry--no lip to catch water like the Camelbak (from the circle twist opening.)5) Once again, NO PLASTIC TASTE!!!This hydration bladder exceeded every expectation that I had. I used it for an 8 hour hike, refilled it once, and had no issues. It is well made, super easy to clean, and I cannot praise the easy to use design enough. I have a Flashpack 18 from REI and it fit perfectly inside.I highly recommend!
