I bought this use on the patio. I love the feel of the fire but not the smell of the smoke. I didnt want to mess around with wood or buy an expensive smokeless fire pit. Which are never truly smokeless. Typically I only have 4 people that sit around this, so we can be close to it without being crowded and still get heat off it. I wish I would have opted for a fire pit with a striker instead of using a lighter but that's my own fault for not thinking of it before I bought it.

Outs out a lot of heat, nice to have it during a fire ban when we can't have a wood fire.

We got this specifically to take camping with us since there was a fire ban at the campground we had booked for months prior. Part of camping is the fire and I we didn't want to cancel our trip or be without the fire, so we purchased this since a gas fire was allowed. I was so happy we did. We were the only ones in the campground with one and it worked beautifully!! we even got to roast our marshmallows and hotdogs on it. AND we didn't have to pay the exorbitant fire wood fees. so a big win for us.It was really easy to put together, and every thing came with it except the gas tank which we just used the one from our trailer. It lasted the whole week with no issues at all.I would recommend

I really enjoy this fire pit because I don't have to gather wood and start a fire every time I want to sit outside beside a fire. I thought that I would miss a real fire but this was so easy to set up and start (minutes) and I didn't have to deal with smoke or embers blowing around. It puts off plenty of heat and has a nice glowing fire to it. I love it !!!

This was exactly what we needed to enjoy camping when our state park had a burn ban. My favorite part was how it put out a great amount of heat, and even when you turn it off, the rocks remain very, very hot so you can still enjoy the heat, even when the fire is off.

Portable, light, great source of heat and light. No work to it! No chopping wood or continuously stoking the fire but because of its height it gives the sense of a real fire. We use it to cook hot dogs and marsh mellows. It is safe on a wooden surface which means you can use it on your patio! It doesn't make your clothes smell and it doesn't bother the neighbors. We have given it as a gift as well. Cost to refill a propane tank is reasonable and if you keep the flame on a lower setting it actually lasts for quite a while.

Easy to set up and use. Basically you take it out of the box and it’s ready to go after you add propane tank. I think we got one of the good ones. Lit on first try, large flame variations, meaning low runs with a tiny flame and high run with about a 6-8 inch high flame (3-5 inches above rocks). We ran it pretty high first night for about 4 hours and barely used any fuel. Lava rocks eventually burn red hot and some get sooty like coal. Throws great heat, even on low. We love it. Wish we bought one long ago. We did get this on sale for $117.00 but I would pay full price, totally worth it!We used it on our deck, under a patio umbrella. It was on the floor and umbrella was cantilever type. Umbrella didn’t get hot but we were sure to check it often and had extinguishers handy just in case. It’s a solid construction and looks very nice. Came with lots of rocks, not stingy at all. You can hear it but it just sounds like a fire to me, well, probably more like a BBQ.We didn’t get a bag or cover but wish we had, we’ll probably order the bag type carrier/storage.This review was written after one night of use.

I got this when they had a discount going on for $109. 3 months in and the item works just as I hoped. I am happy with the quality for the price. This fire pit isn’t fancy but works great in the backyard and creates a nice ambiance. It does not provide a huge amount of heat, but I think that is just any gas fire pit versus wood. It is enough heat to warm your hands and feet if you put them near the fire, but don’t expect it to warm a large area. I wanted a gas pit to eliminate the smoke smell in our clothes and avoid cleanup of ashes all the time, and it has accomplished that. No mess, no nothing, just turn it on and off. It has also remained out in the rain a few times with no noticeable damage or malfunction. I also like that it’s lifted off the base about 6 inches. There is almost no heat produced on the underside of the fire pit, which means you can sit the whole thing on a wood table or deck with very little concern. Great product!

It’s a good quality piece; well built with a good design. It was so easy to setup and use! I was impressed that they included spare lava rocks. Its rugged and seems like it can withstand the extreme temperature range between summer and winter where I live. I’ve been using it on top of snow and ice: it seems fine so far.I read a lot of reviews before deciding on this one and it has exceeded my expectations. I wondered if it would feel a bit small: nope! It’s the perfect size. It has less of a bbq feel and more of a real campfire feel than I suspected. The fire is great to look at and, while it’s not quite as hot as a roaring wood fire, it provides decent heat. The fact that it’s portable is nice however, I mostly use it in my backyard for a quick fireside moment in the evening. I love that aspect: it allows me to to have a quick fire anytime. I only purchased a propane fire pit because of a wood fire ban where I live. Having this thing is a game changer: before having it, I would’ve only had wood fires on special occasions. Meanwhile, this thing facilitates having a fire whenever I want and there’s no smoke smell afterwards. I’m really pleased with it. I recommend it.

I LOVE this fire pit!!! Within five minutes of unboxing, I had a fire going. You don't need any tools to put it together and it's super easy. The gas cord is extremely long so I'll easily be able to hide it. The unit is super light and doesn't cause the surface below where it sits to become hot. The flames are beautiful and you can adjust the size of the flame. I had mine on high last night under my porch, completely safe. I had a house fire so I'm very aware, but this fire pit 100% took away all my fire concerns. I could not have made a better purchase! My friend came over and he loved it so much that he's also buying one! This thing is going to extend my porch time during the colder months.

This is my 3rd propane campfire. The other 2 were from Camp Chef. All 3 are excellent fire rings. This review is to point out some comparisons. My 1st one was the Camp Chef with the chrome ring around. It had a built in lighter & safety thermocouple. Sounds good but in actual practice it was a pain. Absolutely COULD NOT GET WET or lighter wouldn't work. Also, small pieces of lava rock kept moving too close to the lighter & shorting it out. 2nd was Camp Chef cheapest basic model. Nothing but a On/Off valve. Not very pretty but got the job done. No safety device of any kind. I stupidly gave it away with my camp trailer when I sold it. After looking & comparing, I recently bought this Outland 823 unit & I'm VERY happy with it. About the same size as the other two, looks exactly like the picture. I'm using it in my patio & it looks great. I thought, excellent setup instructions (hookup, lava placement, etc.).Lights very simple with a propane lighter. When it lights there's a WHOOSH of flame so a match is not a real good idea. For my liking, I keep the gas turned low. Plenty of flame & saves gas. After it's on a few minutes at this setting, the fire is about like a small wood campfire (without any smoke). The only safety feature is that you must push in the control valve to open it. At least it can,t be opened by just a bump like my #2 Camp Chef. One warning on this unit is: DO NOT EVER DROP THE REGULATOR ON A HARD SURFACE! The slightest dent in the edge will break the seal of the diaphragm inside & you'll have a dangerous propane leak. This applies to any brand of fire ring because they all seem to use a crimped together regulator. The reason I took one star off my rating is because the hose is crimped on at both ends. This may sound great because there's NO assembly needed when hooking up. But it becomes difficult if you ever need to replace the regulator or hose. I'd much prefer a hose that was removable with a wrench.Added 4/22/24: Had a few years now. still love it. Just wanted to add. I'm in a wheel chair & the lighting flair up is because I can only use one hand & turning on the valve, THEN lighting makes the WHOOSH of flame. Cured this by using one of those shredded fire starter things ea. time. Now I just put one where I know the burner tube is & light IT with a rechargable candle lighter, THEN turn on the gas. Works great. A few sparks that only travel a few inches before burning out, but MUCH better than old way of lighting. Not nec. if you have both hands avail. Just wanted to pass along if you're like me with only 1 usable hand.
