unit is perfect for my needs. Not to loud, not to quiet, plenty of adjustment to shape your sound.

This acoustic amp produces the sweetest tone I've found. Some nice acoustic amps have IMO an overly bright, too crisp tone. Practically abrasive.... This Monoprice is sweet! I plug an Ovation directly into the 1/4" jack. The chorus and reverb do excellent, I'm able to maintain a pure acoustic sound while adding both reverb and chorus. Seriously, very sweet. Mics too sound nice, vocals and guitar. The middle "Mid" control controls the overall sound and is VERY nice and USEFUL to get the sound you want... For a 20W amp and at THIS price, just get it... My only 2 little complaints: 1) it would be nice to have reverb and chorus for the XLR input too, not just the 1/4" input. I use a LEKATO Multi Effects Pedal for Acoustic Guitar https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0BGRCYP87?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details (which is great for $40!) when I want reverb, chorus, etc. for the XLR input. Run a XLR to 1/4" cable into the Lekato and another 1/4" to XLR cable out. And 2) I wish there was a 40W version. Don't get me wrong, this amp kicks butt for 20 watts. And there is a line out to get the sound into a larger PA, etc... but again, what I really love about this amp (besides the price!) is the sweet sound. Truly compliments both acoustic guitars and vocals. Get it.

Even at this great price ($79 on sale at the Monoprice website), this amp just doesn't deliver. The sound is clean and passable at low volume, but there's no gain adjustment, so when you turn the volume up above 4 or 5 it gets distorted and growly -- not what you want for an acoustic. If it had clean sound at full volume, it would be OK for a small room. It's clean only at low volume, so it's pretty much useless. And then there's the so-called "chorus." You can't hear it at all until you dial up to 7, and from 8-10 the modulation completely detunes your instrument. It sounds terrible! The spring reverb isn't much better -- it's twangy at higher settings. It's passable at 3 or 4, and I'd probably use it right there, if I were keeping the amp. I'm not -- I sent it back.I really like Monoprice's tube combos -- I use the 15-watt every time I play, and I take the 5-watt to my jam groups. For the limited acoustic gigging I'm going to do, I'm perfectly fine with the 15-watt -- gain and reverb turned down, and with the Donner Alpha Cruncher 3 for just a touch of chorus (excellent budget multi-pedal, by the way).If I really need a small acoustic amp, I'll spend more money -- maybe the Fender 40 or the Blackstar 30.
