Stubby drill bits are always useful, and I’ve been needing a set, but unfortunately, these didn’t meet my expectations. While they claim to be multi-use, including wood, they lack the necessary spur and lip for clean wood drilling. As a result, the bits wander before biting and cause splintering and blowout, leading to rough, unattractive holes.I haven’t tested them extensively on metal, but from what I have used, they seem fine. Others have done thorough reviews on their performance in that area, so I won’t repeat that.If you need stubby bits for wood, look elsewhere. For metal, they seem functional, but there might be better options available.

Very nice set of bits. I use them with a compact cordless impact driver and they work great for me and seem to be holding up well. I love the quick change shank and short length of these bits - so much better than trying to deal with my larger cordless drill.Granted, I haven't really put these bits through any sort of "torture test" but they get the job done and are not showing any signs of wear drilling through wood and soft metal (aluminum, brass, and thin mild steel).

These work well on metal and thick wood. If you only have a ratchet drill, the hex size on a couple of the bigger bits may be slightly over 6mm and you need to use a regular drill. Really like these shorter drill bits.

Eliminates bit breaks from flex and pressure on longer bits. Cut through my van metal easily. Should have bought years ago

Totally dull, split point is off. You can tell if a drill bit is sharp by twisting it against your palm. Didn’t even bother trying to use these, didn’t want to pay taxes on these for keeping them.

I tend to drill lots of pilot holes, and many times it happens in close quarters. I love stubby drill bits. They are perfect for pilot holes because the hole doesn't have to been exceedingly deep. And I like all of my drill bits to be a cobalt alloy. And I love using them in my impact driver, which I use for just about everything. Never go anywhere without it close by.So when I received these bits I wanted to try them out. Problem is, three out of the six have shafts that are slightly too large to fit the impact driver. The other three fit perfectly. When I have nothing to do I will put them on the grinder and take them down a bit, but until then they will need to be used in the drill exclusively. Disappointing.Trying them out revealed little, since virtually every new drill bit does well the first few times out. That is where I like having the cobalt alloy, because I have found those to stay sharp the longest for the tasks I use them for. And while these bits are not cheap, few cobalt bits are, they are competitively priced. There currently is a 5% off coupon as well, which helps a little (if you use an Amazon charge card that takes another 5% off).
