These do the job their supposed to. I do not put anymore pressure than I have to because hey it's just a set screw. If I don't have a size that I need then I go back to blue tape.

The Drixet Drill Stop Bit Collar Set has revolutionized the way I approach drilling tasks in my workshop. This comprehensive kit includes seven essential sizes – 1/8", 3/16”, 1/4”, 5/16”, 3/8”, 7/16”, and 1/2-inch – along with an Allen wrench for tightening the set-screws, providing unmatched versatility and precision for a wide range of projects. One of the standout features of this set is its ease of use. Installing the drill stop collars onto my drill bits was a breeze, thanks to the included Allen wrench, which ensures a secure and snug fit. Once in place, the collars effectively prevent over-drilling, allowing me to achieve consistent and accurate hole depths with every use.The durability of these collars is impressive, with each one crafted from high-quality materials that withstand the rigors of heavy-duty drilling. Whether I'm working with wood, metal, or plastic, I can rely on these collars to maintain their integrity and performance, project after project. The stopped does not always sit level depending on how far down the bit you need it, but overall its still better than taping where you want it to stop.Highly recommended.

These are very easy to use and remain in place on the drill bit very well. This is something I grab when I need repeatable depths for doing dowels or other a receding area for screws in my projects. I used to use tape, it is effective that way, this is more efficient for me and helps me with set up and worry of matching depths.

Used for first time today. Only paid $7.99, so didn't know what to expect. First off, remove package contents over something light colored, so you don't lose tiny set screws. I noticed one was loose before I opened package, luckily. You need something to transfer collars to, comes in plastic bag which doesn't seal. Couple of collars needs inside filed down, when tapped for set screws, there was a burrs that wouldn't allow you to place collar over bit. Filed 2 and checked rest, we're fine, so didn't take long. Had to retap couple of threads, burrs made them tight but still worked. All in all, took longer to find an empty container than to go file and retap. Then they worked great!Well worth the price paid, am happy with purchase. Face it, kind of relaxing messing with them when you think about spending less than $8.

WOW! Seven stop-collars for under $10? I've spent that much for just ONE collar when I needed it the same day. The words in the item's title ("drill stop bit collar...") are jumbled -- should say "stop-collars for drill bits".I'm pretty sure the most common use for these stop-collars is on bits in electric drills. If you're using a drill press, you have precise control on depth of hole. but in a hand held drill, it's easy to wind up with holes that are too deep, or not deep enough. Slide your bit into one of these gizmos, extend it to the exact depth-of-hole you want, and tighten the set-screw. If I'm drilling a shallow hole, and have to position the collar where there are flutes, I just twist the bit until the set-screw goes into the gullet between flutes...it's more secure -- don't worry about nicking the flutes a bit, they aren't really used to cut, they just pull debris out of the hole. Don't tighten the set-screw too much, you shouldn't be putting any real pressure on the collar, just stop drilling as the collar gets to the surface of the wood or plastic or metal being drilled. And these stop-collars are useful for more than just drill bits -- they work on any tool with a round handle. I use these collars when I'm dressing a grinding wheel, or changing its "geometry". If you have a wheel that's out of round, and you have a dressing tool with a round handle, you can position one of these collars to hold the dressing tool back so that it just barely touches the spinning wheel, slide the tool back and forth on the tool rest until it no longer is removing material, then adjust the collar to allow a bit more extension (maybe a 64th of an inch or so?), and repeat until the wheel is round. This chore is really difficult (for me at least) without a stop-collar.These may not be German engineered super-high-precision items. What can you expect for $8? But of the four I've used so far, three of them fit the bits quite well - i.e., the bits slid into the collars without a lot of slop, so the tolerances are pretty good. On the 7/16" collar, I had to remove a small spur with a rat-tail file, but then it fit well.Altogether, this was a great buy. I'm getting another set for our off-grid property.

Worked really well.I purchased some old early 80's Bose 901 Series V speakers. I lusted after these when I was a kid and could never afford them. Got some in really good condition 'furniture wise', but the 18 5" speakers suffered from foam-rot. After a rather tedious set of hours, I was able to re-foam all of them and they really sounded good...What I didn't like was that Bose used simple wood screws to attach the cabinets to the iconic Bose retro-stands. Wood screws into particle board will chew up the cabinets if replaced multiple times.I used the drill stops to limit the depth during installation of some EZ-Lok threaded inserts. Worked great! I installed all 8 inserts with nary a goof. I used masking tape to protect the walnut veneer over particle board and used Gorilla glue to help keep the inserts in place 'forever'. Replaced the wood screws with stainless hex head 8-32 screws and now I don't have to worry about ever messing up the threads if I have to tear-down the speakers multiple times from their stands.Caution: Drill bits are extremely hard tempered metal. Don't be afraid to crank down the set-screw in the collar. AND test that you have to stop tightened enough by drilling first on scrap. I would have punctured the nice cabinetry if I hadn't tried it out first on some junk wood.
