Due to its extremely long needles, approximately 14 inches, Longleaf pine straw is the preferred choice of landscapers, developers, homeowners, and golf course superintendents. I am using this as a substrate for our chicken run which is attached and underneath their tiny tractor supply coop. We have them on top of a cement patio and needed something that could withstand the DownEast Maine snow, freezing rain and sleet.so far so good.Soooo much better than moldy straw or hay and infinitely better than the wood chips which work well for the actual coop portion. A very good amount was in the box so we are very happy. Will add to review if we should find it isn't meeting our needs but so far we love it!!

I use the pine straw to cover a narrow 100 foot path thru the woods in my back yard to keep my shoes mud free on my twice a day walk with my cat. It works well, keeps other growth down and looks nice.I'd be happier if it cost half the price.

I’ve bought several boxes of this over the years, lately the boxes have gotten lighter. Pack the boxes full please!

Perfect for over-wintering my raised garlic and carrot beds for frost protection. The product was easy to use, looks great in the beds. Is weed free and clean. I am happy with this product and would recommend it.

These pine needles are very long - approximately 15". They would work quite well and look beautiful in a large area. However, they were way too long for placing around bedding plants spaced around 12" apart. I ended up spending time grabbing small bundles and cutting them in half or thirds - pretty putzy. I do like the way pine needles look and they last 2-3 seasons. So when I ran out of the long needles I bought some "Clean Straw" pine needls at local garden center (they were out of stock earlier that's how I ended up buying the long needles on Amazon.) I prefer the shorter "Clean Straw" pine needles for mulching my bedding plants. As someone mentioned the "Clean Straw" pine needles has a few chunks of pines cones and sticks but I just threw those under shrubs, no big deal.

I have never used colored straw before, so was a bit skeptical. When the first box arrived, I was very pleased. I spread it where I normally use mulch because I wanted a look that the rest of my neighborhood doesn't have. The color is exactly what I wanted and the straw gives a real woodsy look to my backyard. I promptly bought three more boxes and used it all through my beds. Very easy to put down as it is lightweight compared to those heavy mulch bags. Shipping was prompt and before schedule. That always makes me happy. I'll see by the end of the season whether I will return to mulch or not. But right now? I am liking the look of this.
