We originally bought our rings for baby trees we were planting. We had some left over, so my wife thought she'd give it a try on some of our potted trees that we won't transfer until next year. This was over a week ago, and every time she's checked them, the soil hasn't needed more water.We were both amazed how well they work on pots. We've started using them on all of our pots that we're growing food in (peppers, tomatoes, tomatillos, and cucumbers) rather than growing in the ground.It's a big deal not to run out of water because we're on a well with a lot of salt that only good for washing and boiling. Trying to water plants with it kills them, so we're on a rain-catch system, and during the hottest part of the year, sometimes we run out of rain water and have to switch to our bottles drinking water.We have several packs of these now in a variety of sizes. They're relatively cheap, so it won't be a big deal to replace them when they start to deteriorate...and while I'm typing this it occurs to me that when we winter over our future transplants in the garage, the disks will help keep the roots a little warmer, so they may grow faster next spring.

Needed mulch rings for newly planted Crepe Myrtle bushes outside. These were perfect and arrived well packaged. The price is great and you get three. Highly recommend!

Product only 14 3/8 inches. That makes a difference when you are trying to cover the soil in a 15 inch pot.

I ordered these for a potted ficus I have that gets a lot of afternoon sun and that causes it to need frequent watering. Unfortunately, the inside of the pot is at least an inch wider in diameter than the largest size of these mats as you can see in the attached photo. It MIGHT still help to reduce the need for water but that undersized appearance isn't very attractive. My advise is to order the exact same size or even larger because trimming excess would still be an option.
