Important Questions Answered

Q1: What are the most useful tips for successful and long-lasting applications?

Refer to the Application guide in the Product Guideline Section for detailed step-by-step directions.

  • Ensure the mulch is completely dry and clean. If using fresh mulch, let it dry in the sun for a few days.
  • Avoid oversaturation or underapplication. Use PetraTools HD101 Pump Sprayer for even application.
  • Apply when temperatures are above 50°F for at least 72 hours after application. Avoid rainy days, high humidity, or when dew is expected. Morning applications on sunny days are best; avoid afternoons to prevent overnight dew buildup.
  • Use mulch that is less than 3 inches in size.

Q2: Can Lockscape Sticky Mulch Glue be used on rubber mulch?

Yes! Lockscape Sticky Mulch Glue works effectively on rubber, wood, bark, and pine straw mulch, keeping them firmly in place against wind, rain, and foot traffic.

Q3: Can I apply the adhesive to deeper mulch layers?

For best results, treat mulch in layers no deeper than 1 inch to ensure even bonding and effective penetration.

The mulch I get from HomeDepot is usually moist inside the bag. So I spread out the mulch in the garden area and let it dry out for a dew days in the sun. Watch the forecast and wait until there is a stretch of sunny dry weather before application. This product isn't just spray and go. First spray it down, then you gotta mix up the top layer a bit with a rake, then spray again, and tamp down for good adhesion. I used a metal garden rake for the tamping. These darn squirrels make a mess every year. Hopefully, mulch glue is the answer and the squirrels will move on to my neighbor's yard. Hah

It finally got warm enough for me to try this product on a couple of small test beds. I made a small batch in a spray bottle, which worked okay for the size of the tests I was doing. For actual work I will definitely want to use a pump sprayer. This is what I found. - The product is easy to apply. Just mix and spray. It's almost like using weed spray. - The product is largely unnoticeable after it dries - It did a good job of holding wood mulch in place - The 1" river rock I tried it on was either not porous enough, too large, or both - Cleaning out the sprayer seemed easy enough, but a couple of days later I found the spray bottle was clogged. This is likely because I used the wrong type of sprayer in my testsI usually swap out my mulch every couple of years. This is the tail end of how long this adhesive is supposed to last so that aligns with my gardening process. The mulch I take out goes into a composting pile for branches and twigs. I'm not sure how this glue will affect the composting process. I won't know if it has an effect for several years as the composting of larger materials takes a lot of time.

This is the best stuff. Mulch stays in place, easy to blow out grass clipping. Ours has held up against the rain and wind.We are super pleased with this product. Instructions, and application are simple. Will be using more of this in the future.

My husband used this on our mulch to keep it from washing away.

This seems to be working after a few weeks. My mulch hasn't blow into the walkway even after a few good storms and windy days. It was easy to apply and dried quickly. My only issue is that while this bottle is a good size, you'll need to buy more to do even medium sized areas. I will update after a few months to assess the long term durability.
