I like the look of this stair rail but I didn't think about how cold the faux wood (metal) hand rail would be in the winter. Yikes! I still like the look and know I will appreciate the durability. Also, it's sturdy for only attaching in two spots. These are temporary steps, so I'll probably use thru bolts and lock nuts on the final project. BTW, it comes with tons of hardware options and even a drill bit! Good seller.

The deep, narrow stairs leading to the basement in my Victorian house had no handrails and walls that were long ago covered with a kind of thin whiteboard. The whiteboard proved to be too unstable for attaching a handrail. I decided to try the MDpygsfj outdoor handrails, which I could screw into the steps rather than the wall, and found they worked indoors as well. The stair railing comes in pieces, along with an amazing array of tools for concrete or wood installation. The instructions were a bit hard to follow, since they varied for concrete or wood use but were both on the same instruction sheet. My daughter and I managed to put together the railings but had trouble attaching them to the wood steps. After trying three different cordless drills and consulting with a hardware store specialist, we were surprised to find we needed a more powerful drill that could tightly hold the bits included with the railing. I ordered one that did the job. The difficulty may partly have been with the very long screws, which went right through the step and protruded underneath it, as you can see in my photo. Be wary of this if you have the screws going anywhere you might run into them (such as in a storage crawl-through under your outdoor steps).

To begin with, the hand rail is very solid and looks nice. It seems to be made with quality materials and will hopefully last for a long time. The big downside to this was trying to install it. I got it to put on the steps leading to my front door. It is all cement, but I didn't think that would be a problem. Well, it required a lot more work and created a lot more frustration than I anticipated! The rail comes with all the necessary hardware and drill bits (great!). The concrete drill bit was less than stellar (meh), so I bought a new one from Lowes. Come to find out, the included bit and bolts were not standard. The anchor bolts also didn't work well. I ended up buying different anchors to go with the new size of drill bit that I got. Unfortunately, this made actually attaching the posts to the steps difficult because of different nut sizes. I almost threw the thing in the trash because of how aggravated I got! The instructions were also completely unhelpful when it came to the part about installing it! There were a couple of pictures and nothing else. The instructions also show assembling the handle before trying to install it. I think that would work fine if attaching it to wood, but it would have been an even bigger nightmare if I had been trying to anchor the whole thing instead of one post at a time.It adds to our front porch and looks pretty nice, but it was not easy getting it there!

This a good product but it is not strong enough for railing I would trust. My steps are wood used the lag screws provide could not get to feel secure.

This MDpygsfj Hand Rails for Outdoor Steps, 4 Step Handrail Stair Railing is just as beautiful as it is sturdy. It came with everything that you would need to install in either concrete or wood (except the drill and level). (See other reviews regarding the concrete anchors). I installed this railing on the wooden steps and I couldn't be more pleased with how it turned out. The railing is as sturdy as can be and I love the hammered/textured, two-tone paint, which is such a beautiful finish. The installation was straightforward and fairly easy. The initial assembling of the handrail was not easy, but I persevered. The rails were a little too big to slide into the angled slots that would be fastened to the posts to accept the rails. (4th photo) So, I used two pairs of long handled pliers and a good deal of leverage to open up the slot joints and spread them apart just a tiny bit to accept the rail. Once I figured that out, the rest was pretty straightforward. I used tape to hold the cover plates up and out of the way while I screwed down the bolts. I am so pleased with the finished results that I purchased another hand rail for the other side of these stairs.
