I would say that this was a moderately difficult installation into my 2004 Crown Vic, though I watched several videos with some tips to make it easier. I definitely recommend notching the screw hole on this part that will end up nearest the firewall! This blend door actuator fit perfectly and has been working great for a week. I’ll update the review if it does not last.

These are a pain to get to but I use an old carburetor adjuster with a socket on the end and can get 3 out of 4 screws out. Last one I just break off the ear. Dorman products are great.

There are two styles of climate controls, automatic or manual and make sure you order the correct blendoor for your car.These are a PIA (not easy) to install on a cold day in the winter but it regulates the heat so you need it, good for AC and defrost mode too. I suggest you change this when the weather is warm, but you can do it in the winter and the sun goes down and it is really cold, your choice.

Had hot air blowing when A/C was needed, so diagnosed the problem as this actuator. Google 'Ford code 024' to see how to run a self-test and what codes mean. After loosening the dash and removing some insulating material, I was able to get to the two front screws to loosen. My car only had one screw in the back...one was a post that the module set over.. so I had only three screws in place. Had to use a prybar to break the tab off the one in the back.... like most other installers on Youtube did. Notched the new module to allow the back screw to hold the module down, and installed the two front screws. No fun, but saved over $1,000 at the dealership. The new module works great, HVAC operates as it should, and should be good to go for a long time to come. Take the time to watch videos posted online....you'll be glad you did.

can't give 5 stars because I only installed it 2 months ago. If it works for 10 years I will give it 20 stars. It was a major pain to install but it fit in the location perfectly. The Ford engineer that designed this for the location needs to be required to change a few of these, The part from ford is about 55bucks BUT TO INSTALL IT IN A CROWN VIC IS $1100.00 labor...

Local shops were trying to scare me into a $1000 worth of labor. I did this in 3 hours. my mechanics skills are modest at best.How I installed it... take off the trim, airbag, vent, and duct. get a few wires out of the way. No need to remove radio or dashundo front screw that is easy to access. I then jammed a big screw driver under it and broke the back post that it was screwed on to. Got lucky on that one actually. For the front screw, I cut the old part's plastic tab off.Old part is now out and so was the back post. I attached the back post to the new part, I could have taken the front screw out, but chose to cut the new part to match the old part in the front.put new part in, lined up with post in the back with no screw, sat other back post into the crack from where it came from, and screwed it down on the front. put the battery cable back on, started the car and tested. watched the actuator move the blend door. called it good! The automatic temperature control works again now.
