Reserve reeds are crafted using naturally-grown cane from D'Addario's own foreign fields. D'Addario has pioneered the first practical and precise system to digitally measure and cut the incredibly complex geometrical patterns necessary to re-invent single reeds. Reserve reeds are cut to the tightest tolerances, offering the most consistent performance.

They produce a better sound, but be ready to buy more than one. At least one, sometimes two or three are not centered and throw aways.

E' normale che le ance non suonino tutte allo stesso modo e che a volte alcune bisogna scartarle, ma quando di cinque non ne va bene una vuol dire che c'è qualcosa che non va all'origine. personalmente mi orienterò su altre marche

My son says that the smoothness of the cuts of the reeds differentiates. Other than that they are good.

I'm a longtime La Voz player, using that brand of reed for both alto and tenor for many years. As a semi-pro player, I have always just liked the tone I get out of La Voz reeds, but it was with great interest that I sampledd the D'Addario brand. I typically play a tenor reed on my alto as well as on my tenor, so I used these 3.0 D'Addarios on both horns.Right off the bat, I noticed a warm, dark, and very even response from these D'Addarios. I normally play a 2.5 (or Medium in terms of La Voz) and so it was with a bit of trepidation that I dove into these 3.0 D'Addario reeds. But they played really easily and smoothly. One thing I noticed in particular was an increase in my level of control in the altissimo range. This was especially noteworthy on my alto, because although I happen to prefer the sound I get on the alto when using a tenor reed, I often have trouble controlling my altissimo notes when using the wider reed. I was happy to find that I could achieve more stability in that uppermost range when using these 3.0 reeds.I'm still unsure how I like the response of the D'Addarios when overblowing notes for a growling effect - I like to scream on my horn a lot and the warmer, darker tone seems to result in a bit smoother sound than I'm used to. But overall I would certainly recommend D'Addario reeds and I'm glad to have had the chance to use them. I'll continue experimenting and possibly even switch over to them on my tenor (which, of course, is what this particular cut was designed for). I am primarily an alto player and I typically coax a lot of different sounds from it, but I love the way these reeds have smoothed my tenor tone a bit. I'm frankly not as strong and confident a tenor player as I am alto, so I like the rich, full sound these reeds lend the larger horn.
