Rear sight base is not level on my rifle. I had to shim it to make it level for the rings. Sturdy build but off a little on my rifle. Could be the rifle?

Admittedly, I am bashing these pretty hard ONLY because of the Marketing description.I'd say it is an excellent quality mount and hate to give it 1 star because it CAN fit MANY Picatinny scope rings. But, ONLY if they have 1 (or no) 'shims'.I bought it because I needed a Picatinny solution for my Post '64 Model 70 SA .308. I didn't understand Jeff G's 1-star review because he talked about: "they do not maintain the Picatinny spacing between the front and rear bases". I thought that meant BETWEEN the front and back mounting points because different Model 70s have a different distance depending on short/long/WSM (medium) actions. I was thinking that since these are 2 pieces, that didn't matter and I thought his review was for another product. I was wrong. Jeff G is correct if you realize he is talking about the Picatinny spacing on the FRONT rail all by itself. The 'rails' are not consistent with Picatinny 'rail' spacing. My rings have 2 'shims' that fit in the 'valleys' between the Picatinny 'rails' and this mount will ONLY work in 1 position because there are only 2 correct 'valleys' on either side of the ONLY Picatinny spec 'rail' (see pictures - I tried my best to illustrate).Plus, the rear mount only has 1 'valley' so my ring with 2 'shim's wouldn't fit at all.If the rear mount was able to accommodate my rings with the 2 'shims', I'd have to give this a 4-star review subtracting a star for the lack of configuration options. Some rings have the ability to discard 1 or all 'shims' but, mine did not.Since the description said "They work with all Weaver-style, Pica tinny-style, and mil-spec rings.", they get the 1 star.I ended up getting the 'Evolution Gun Works Picatinny Rail Scope Mount for Winchester 70 WSM 20 MOA' and it worked perfectly although I would have preferred to have the 2-piece arrangement if they only would have implemented a true Picatinny spacing across both pieces. I really don't get why they didn't. There is plenty of room where they could have done it just right.

Fit my model 70 Super Grade perfectly. Clean the mounting area of the rifle, inside the screw holes and the mating surfaces of the bases with alcohol or acetone then add a drop or 2 of blue Locktite. Moisture cannot get under the bases if you do this. Clean up any squeeze out using a q-tip wet with alcohol or acetone for a perfect installation. Don't forget to torque the screws per manufacturer specification!
