Former professional photojournalist who ran EOS1s with motor drives, yes shooting film. LOL Pleasant surprise that this grip had the same feature as the original top of the line pro camera in the 1990s. Grip holds CR132 or AA batteries, has shutter button for vertical shooting, keeping right arm close to body for stability and not exposing ones center core with NOT elbow in horizontal position, yes this is important.So far very pleased.

I spent 1/3 on this compared to the 4.4 rated Canon grip. I like how it came with two batteries. They aren't Canon, but seem to charge well and my 5D Mark IV says they recharge capability of these is good. I know a complaint of the 5D Mark iv is that it chews batteries. With this grip you can have 2 in at the same time and should satisfy your time shooting. But as always, carry extra batteries. The reason I gave it 4 stars is the the wheel to lock it to the camera wiggles even though the grip is secure to the camera. But some Gaffe tape should solve that.

At first, I thought the batteries weren't that great. In my older camera grip batteries lasted a long time without removing them. But I recently learned that with my new Canon 7D Mark II there is a constant draw of power, therefore, batteries power down quicker. Problem solved, remove batteries at the end of the day, even if I didn't shoot much. This grip was easy to install, works like a charm. What more could one ask for?
