I used one of the large bits to drill three holes through 2" cherry and worked fine without tear out upon exiting into plywood. Use 1/2" bit for various oak and cherry wood plugs and worked fine. I don't know how long they will maintain an edge but for the price and number of bits I would clearly buy them again.

Although I'm an avid woodworker and always doing something around the house I rarely need Forstner bits for the projects I get into. But when you need one, you need one, it's as simple as that. I wouldn't call these bits precision or high quality, but the ones that I've tried out do poke holes in the wood (only tried pine so far) and the cuts are pretty clean, no complaints. I have no idea how long they will hold their edge, but I doubt I'll be using them too often so I'm not too concerned about that. If I used Forstner bits often I'd bite the bullet and buy a set of Freud bits.
