When I opened the package and examined the bit, I quickly noticed that the two radial cutting edges had significant burrs left on them from manufacturing. I used a small ultra-fine diamond stone to refine the cutting edges and remove the burrs...it only took a few strokes on each edge. I then chucked it up in my drill press and used it to cut hinge pockets in 4 cabinet doors. After the touch-up the bit cuts beautifully at 480RPM and doesn't even get warm to the touch. It's a solid tool but I expected it to arrive ready to use from a quality manufacturer like Bosch.

I bought the cheaper knockoff mao-tse-crud bit , then after cussing up a storm, I ordered this bit and finished the project of drilling a few dozen holes in maple. Costs more, but cuts a 100X better.

The fluted cutting edges of this bit really do leave a super clean hole. I don't have a Fisch bit to compare it to, but, having used the Freud bit, I can say I have no intention of replacing it with any other brand or model. The hole diameter is just right for 35mm Euro hinges, and the pilot point doesn't extend too far below the bottom of the hole.

Making new cabinets for our kitchen required the 35 mm. holes, I have a couple of other Forstner bits here, but decided to try a new one as mine were getting a bit chippy...My love for Freud router products led me to try this drill bit and low and behold, again Freud has provided me with the best Forstner bit I have ever used, zero tear out, perfectly smooth walls, and quick.I do highly recommend it's usage in a drill press, did great in my handheld, but just so much better in the press....Freud, again I say thank you for an amazing tool and product lineup....

Don't know about longevity yet, but forst trials went great. Mine is 35MM and marked that way. Measured with Mitutyoyo digital calipters. It looks like the reviewer saying it is incaccurate because it 1.5" just pain got the wrong item.

Great bit for boring cup hinge holes. Wish it cost a little less, but it's hard to argue with the results.

Personally I find Freud forestner bits to be the best. The yield the flattest bottom and smoothing bore with minimal tear out. They also stay sharp much longer than other forestner bits Ive used in the past. For this reason I have an entire set of Freud forestner standard sized bits from 1/4 - 2 inches. The one bit I did not have is the one forestner bit I probably use the most and that is the 35mm. I had a couple 35mm forestner bits in other brands that came included with concealed hinge jigs that I purchased, but non of them bore a hold like the Freud bits. So i finally opted to buy their 35mm. I have used this bit tirelessly since I received it and its still cuts like a hot knife through butter. Freud produces 3 different versions of forestner bits. The FB which is the standard and the cheapest. The PB precision shear which offers the cleanest cut and the carbide tipped forestners which offer the longest lasting edge. I have used all of them. This is the PB precision shear version which you can tell because the cutter looks jagged. I personally wouldn't gripe over which to choose between FB and PB. Both versions cut great. PB cuts with a little less tear out but its really nothing to gripe about. I would not purchase their carbide forestner bits though. Yes they do last longer because of the carbide tipped cutter, but they also cost more and the hole they bore is very rough. To me they just arent worth the cost.

I have a number of Freud router bits that I really like. When I needed a 35mm forester bit to install some cup hinges I went with Freud. Great bit and perfect for the hinges. The top of the cutter is the same depth as the hinges, so it makes measuring easy.
