First the details: I bought the 8ft kayak which weighs about 30lbs. I weigh 120+/- lbs and am about 5'6". This is important because I don't think the kayak would perform as well for a person over 140/150lbs. As for my experience with it, I couldn't be happier.I bought this because I wanted a smaller kayak that I could easily lift on my own as well as fit in my car (as opposed to on top of it). I had purchased a kids kayak for my daughter and wanted to be able to paddle alongside her rather than use my paddle board and constantly be talking down to her. It arrived on schedule and I immediately took it out to the lake. It does indeed fit into my Subaru Outback and I can fit it in the back alongside my daughter's smaller 6ft kayak. There's still plenty of room for other gear (see pic). When I first got into it, I thought it was going to be a bit unstable but once I started paddling it was absolutely fine - great, in fact. On my first paddle, I took it out for about 2 miles which took me about 40minutes at a fairly casual pace. It tracked well and was very stable even in a bit of chop. I'm very pleased with this purchase!

Perfect weight easy to handle- a bit more effort to balance than larger ones but completely manageable. I'm 5'6" 140lbs much more may be a challenge to track...glad I did it

No adult can use this thing. A kid maybe, but any adult above 5 foot is going to have a bear of a time getting anywhere with it. It tracks like a word that can't be said here. I spent like 45 minutes swiveling in one place before friends took pity on me and tied me to the back of theirs. The tracking on this bites. Paddle on the right and the bow goes 45º or more to the left, paddle on the left and the bow goes 45º or more to the right. Outside of that, It was made pretty well... solid plastic, not weak or thin. Also, you should be aware that your back will ache like no tomorrow with the lip at the top of the seat sitting right in the small of your back. And, I discovered that I do not like sit-on kayaks (which did not affect my review of this product).

Great kayak for a first timer. It is easy to transport. There is a little storage bin that would fit a cell phone and keys and a larger one in the back to could fit a meal. My girlfriend is 5'1" and she is comfortable in it. Probably uncomfortable for anyone taller than 5'5". She says it is steady and but the quickest. Does not come with a paddle

The kayak is satisfactory but was advertised as a 10 foot when it is really only 8 feet. Because we needed it, we kept it rather than returning. Amazon did give me a partial credit because of the error. However, this kayak is still too small for the average adult.

I love my little kayak! It's very comfortable - I'm 5'4 & 110lbs - it's lightweight & fits in my subcompact hatchback - so it's very portable & convenient!

when purchased there was a drop down option on the page for a 10 foot kayak - what a deal! first kayak arrived... 8 foot. Returned original kayak and amazon sent a replacement and guess what? another 8 foot kayak. Props to amazon for coordinating all the returns, etc. but just very dissapointing.

It was too cold to try it on the water yet, but it made a good impression, not to heavy. I think it say 190lbs maximum load. There a drain hole for water and a small compartment. Please note that for this price you only get an 8 feet version, the title is misleading but it was clear to me before I ordered.

This is not the kayak of professionals who ride the rapids rolling underwater repeatedly as they hope to avoid smashing against an underwater rock. But if you have ever been on a camping adventure and rented a kayak from the local dock, you may have become saddle soar, yet had a little fun, but not as much fun as you will have gliding through the waters in a Sun Dolphin Bali SS Kayak of your very own. The fit is perfect for most people 4'8" and taller. The kayak is built in with several foot stabilizers that vary in distance and length to accommodate all sizes, leg lengths, and shoe sizes of paddlers. The backrest feels great! The whole boat is comfortable. It even has a built in waterproof compartment for your phone, wallet, etc. This is not the type of Olympian kayak that professionals lock their bodies into, and then must paddle the rapids vigorously waiting for the perfect moment to roll the kayak, avoid rocks, and make sure they then roll themselves upright-just to repeat the dangerous process again and again. Sun Dolphin Bali SS Kayak owners will not worry about the problems that face the professionals. This kayak is built for pleasure and for motivating the minds and bodies of water drifters to become a little more competitive at the lake or on the river while enjoying the advantages of burning calories and building muscle mass. This kayak represents outstanding quality for the least expense, and by the way, I shopped around for two weeks. Our family was able to afford two of the Sun Dolphin Bali SS Kayaks, and now my teenage daughter and I are loving our almost daily excursions as we paddle and explore many nearby lakes in East Texas. The bird sightings are incredible. By the way, I am almost 50, and I lost about 20 pounds in less than a month while I enjoyed the great outdoors with my daughter. Note: Paddles are sold separately for a variety of logical reasons. We ordered our paddles, and they arrived almost immediately. Don't forget about life jackets; you can find good inexpensive second hand life jackets online, at garage cells, and where I got ours, AMAZON. Helmets are not required where we are, but we don't have rocky or mountainous terrain to deal with, and we make sure we stay clear of the boats at the fishing tournaments and the joy riders. I was worried about the kayaks, but they were promptly delivered, wrapped in a giant plastic bag with all the proper paperwork included. We took the kayaks out of the bags and found that they were in perfect condition. We were really pleased to see that the kayaks have carry straps at each end which makes loading and carrying very simple. On a side note, I recently had to look back at my college transcripts from 30 years ago; I took white-water kayaking for my physical education requirement. Back then I thought I was doing okay, but the lowest grade on my transcript is the "C" I earned in kayaking. Hint: have a partner and always carry at least one end of a kayak during all moving times, and don't let the instructor catch you dragging your kayak, asking a man to carry it for your, or putting lipstick on when you should be paddling as your group is coming up on rough water. The bikini I often wore, probably didn't help either, oh but I would love to live that wonderful experience again. And I am living it - minus the bikini; I let my 16 year old wear hers! We bought the KL Industries Sun Dolphin Bali SS Kayak (Red, 10-Feet) because my daughter and husband are very tall. I don't see any in stock, but the same kayak measuring 8' may be perfect for your needs.

The item was shipped via freight in plastic packaging, which does nothing to ensure the "newness" of the Kayak. There were shipping scratches on the Kayak and a screw which secures the seat back padding to the Kayak was missing. The back padding will also not reach the location where the screws are supposed to secure it to the kayak (even with the straps fully extended). I've yet to try it out in the water, but I'm not completely happy with ordering something brand new to get it in a slightly damaged condition.
