Part arrived without any directions in a plain cardboard box and missing a piece. Looks like it was returned from a previous customer.

The tank had a slow leak into the bowl. Replaced the seal washer but still leaked. Replaced just the main part if flush valve and leak is still there. Had to remove the tank and replaced the whole valve. It no longer leaks.

This part is exactly what I needed to fix my constantly running toilet rather than replacing the entire thing. Special thanks to the guy with the video who made that process even easier.Docked a star because of the shipping— I paid extra to get this early because it’s a discontinued part as far as I can tell, and couldn’t easily figure out what was a compatible one. The receipt is clearly labeled “Amazon Drop Ship” and somehow didn’t come with my apartment number, resulting in UPS being unable to deliver until I called, navigated through the phone system and got a robot to understand the difference between ‘b’ and ‘d’ without being able to use the phonetic alphabet. This was the only portion of my order that was delayed— the stuff that came via Amazon trucks was all here over 24hrs before this box arrived, and every single one had my complete address on it.So, to the drop shipper; update your system or something so that you get more than the first 25 characters of the address (yes I counted) because mine isn’t a particularly long one.

Old American Standard 7381091-400.0070A Dual Flush Valve had begun to leak at the bottom of the tank/flapper location. This part was an exact replacement. No instructions, I guess they figure we know what we are doing (heh).Consider replacing tank bolts (and rubber washers) with new, or at least having a set on hand if the old ones come out in poor condition (mine were fine). Who needs another run to the hardware store when the job is almost done?Take a photo of the unit from the top before removing the tank, noting location of blue/white buttons, and fill tower orientation.Remove the tank, and set it in a safe location (ensure it is not going to drop on the floor and shatter). Remove the faulty flush valve unit. You might have to horse it a bit, and a large pipe wrench came in handy to get that large nut off at the bottom. Keep the old unit on hand to twist and turn the adjustable base of the new unit to match the old one. The twisting aligns the fill tower to the correct 'matching' location. (I was holding one in one hand, and one in the other, twisting the new one and comparing the fill tower and buttons). After tweaking the new unit to match the old, align it up to match your photos and screw it in tightly to the bottom of the tank. Spend the time to do this correctly. Reinstall the tank and done!

We purchased a toilet from home Depot about a year ago I went to replace parts and couldn't find anywhere. This was the exact OEM part I needed. It arrived quickly and fixed the problem.

I'm giving it a 3 star because American Standard doesn't sell just the part(s) you need to perform the repair. I would think it would be an extreme circumstance where the entire assembly needs to be replaced. In an ideal world, I should have been able to simply replace the rubber gasket at the bottom of the valve, or at least sell just the flush valve alone. The flush valve actually comes off of the mount so that you can simply swap out the valve without disassembling the tank from the bowl. Worked like a charm for me. No more constant running toilet.
