It was tricky but I finally found the right size I needed for my toilet. Just a tip for some people still having trouble like I did, instead of looking for the part number for a replacement part. Look for what series it is (2000,3000,etc.) and you should be able to find what you’re looking for.

If you own a Kohler toilet that uses this flush system, there is not a whole lot to say about this as this is a genuine Kohler part that you’re familiar with and it will overhaul your toilet and you’ll be good for another 15+ years.Depending on your model, if you’re installing this on a two piece toilet, it is a good idea to also get the tank plate as it’s likely rusted and deformed, and also get a fresh set of tank bolts. You’re putting the effort in, you may as well do it right.In my case I used the Kohler 1014065 tank plate and 1024390 bolts

I ordered this part after being unable to find the right replacement part locally at any of the local suppliers in our city. I needed the internal part that twists into the base and this part included that piece and it fit and worked as it should.

I had a running toilet for years! Literally years because I could not figure out what was wrong with it. Replacing this part involved 2 men and full deinstalling and reinstalling of the toilet and a considerable amount of frustration on the part of said men but now that it is done the toilet works perfectly. It saved me from having to hire a plumber. I wouldn’t say it’s an easy fix but the price is right if you are willing to do the job yourself and suffer the aggravation of taking the entire toilet apart.

My Kohler is a K4634 and after 20 years of faithful service I replaced all the parts. The steel plate, seals and the Kohler canister upgrade and new water fill valve. Everything was easy to replace..the original flapper set up not so much. I couldn't get the big plastic nut on the bottom of the tank to move so I took it apart in pieces on the work bench with a screwdriver/chisel and hammer. Don't try it in the bathroom. After adjusting the fill valve and a test flush I was back in business with a quieter, upgraded toilet. Problem was inconsistent flushes. Fluids poor to ok flush, solids very disappointing. Weak water pressure and loud bubbling noises. Sometimes two flushes were required. Now think fluid dynamics, the fix is easy.If you take a full gallon jug, turn it upside down to empty it you get an air lock. Same thing happening in the tank. The fix; 3 inches of duct tape, cut in half length wise. Put two layers of tape on the top of left or right side of the tank under the cover. No more air lock and a power flush every time.

I had to replace the original unit because chemical cleaners were used in the tank and the water seal was eroded in the valve assembly. This eventually caused water leakage problems from the tank. Replacing the valve gasket wasn't enough. So I put in the new unit and the problem was fixed.The instructions were great.
