I got this to make an auxiliary drill chuck for my drill press. I have an application where I need to drill down the center of a piece of dowel. So I stick the dowel in my regular drill press chuck, and stick the other end of the dowel in this chuck (mounted on a small steel plate) then clamp it to the drill press plate. Then release the drill press chuck, put in the drill and drill the hole. I only wish I had spent more time trying to find a chuck that had a screw mount that was something you could find at a hardware store. I ended up having to make my own flat head screw to attach the chuck to the little plate.

I hate most hand tightened chucks, and the one that came with the drill was constantly loosening, and I don't have a weak grip. This inexpensive key tightened chuck attached easily and will be the answer to the problem.

If you were expecting ball bearings and Jacob chuck tolerances, you won't find them in a product this inexpensive. I bought these because I needed the 1/2-20 threads for mounting on my bench lathe restoration. They are ok, but would disappoint any serious machinist.
