One ⭐ for a great steel keeps it edge top notch. One ⭐ for the shape it works well. One ⭐ for the price. Now what it lacks is a sharp edge out of the box which at this price I get it. What I don't like is the sole was not flat nor square so get ready to refinish this tool on all side. But put 3 hours of work you get a tool I use all the time.

The blade is very hard (which is good). It takes time to flatten and sharpen the blade but it holds an edge well. The body of the plane where the blade sits is rough and uneven and required additionally work. The wooden blade lock/clamp is a bit too short. The short length allows the blade to chatter a bit. Additionally, the blade end of the clamp is very blunt, causing the shavings to bunch up in the opening instead of eject. Using a slightly longer clamp with better curves cures those two issues.

The blade comes loose if you don’t use a hammer to hit the wedge in. Not really an issue tho cuz you and do the same to get the wedge out.

Overall it’s a decent rabbet plane for the money. The sole wasn’t square to the faces but that only took a few strokes with my Stanley plane. A little sanding and furniture wax and of course some proper sharpening and it’s good to go.

I had to take my no5 plane to the sole of the plane to get it (mostly) square to the sides. The blade needed sharpening (that’s normal) and has a hollow grind, which makes it easy to sharpen by hand. It doesn’t take the nicest shavings on end grain, but that could be a me issue.

Broke the first day. Not easy to set up. Wedge is wrong size

I was pleasantly surprised by this cheap plane. Like any other plane you buy, you need to sharpen the iron, and it takes a minute or so of trial and error to set the depth, but after that it worked great. The wood it’s made of feels solid, there is a space for the shavings to go, the bottom is perfectly flat and the wedge keeps the iron correctly in place.Only downside is that the iron is a tad wider than the plane, so I nicked myself on it at some point, but that can be corrected. Certainly performs better than my home made rabbet plane, wished I bought it earlier rather than trying to build one, trickier than it seems…

Not perfect, but for the money it's fantastic.Since metal ones are friggin expensive and hard to find in stock right now, I was thinking about carving one out of hardwood myself but for the price this was a way better option. The blade needed work and I re-sanded and finished the wood block because it had sloppy lacquer drips but it was easy enough and the wood is beautiful. The blade wasn't square but I used a flat surface and 100 grit sandpaper to reset the bevel in about 15 minutes. Then sharpened using Paul Seller's method in about 5 minutes and then it worked perfectly.

Decent quality. Will require you to do some tuning up, but that's 100% expected with how cheap it was. The blade is too thin to use with a chisel honing guide but it sharpened well free hand. Not sure about quality of steel yet, as I've only used it once in a test, so I don't know how well the edge will hold. Overall I'm pleased with it, better than I expected for the price.
