There's a lot to be said for heavy non-rustable metal in outdoor plumbing.

I have a Woodford Model 25 hose bib. It took me a bit of troubleshooting to figure out that the vacuum breaker was the reason water wouldn't come out of my outdoor faucet. For one thing the headnut threads are left-handed, so to unscrew it you turn clockwise. That confused me for a bit, but when I got it off, all the parts seemed to be working properly, so then I started looking elsewhere. When I removed the vacuum breaker the faucet worked, but of course you cant attach a hose or use it that way. At that point I knew the vacuum breaker was the problem and ordered this guy from Amazon. Now with the new vacuum breaker it works like a champ! It saved me from having spend more to replace the whole faucet, or worse, call a plumber.

When the local big box hardware stores and even the small local ones threw up their hands and said that I had to go to a plumbing supplier, Amazon came through. This vacuum breaker on the outside spigot is a perfect match. Pricey --yup. However it works like a charm and I once again have water at the hose bib.

Part works flawlessly. I am not sure why the previous identical part failed after only a few years, but the new part solved the problem.
