The wheel arrived with the unprotected bolts sticking through the sides of the cobbled packaging (not a purpose made wheel box). There was no obvious sign of damage to the wheel. No QR skewer was included with the wheel. A piece of plastic was jammed in one side the hub through-hole, which I was able to remove. But in the end, I could not get a tire to stay seated in the wheel rim once inflated to riding pressures. I tried multiple inner tubes, two different rim tapes, and two different tires. Both tires I tried had previously been used successfully on other wheels. Having to organize alternative packaging for a return of the wheel.

As mentioned in other reviews, the axle cones are too tight and need to be loosened a bit. An easy way is to use two 17 mm wrenches on the outer axle nuts to break one loose. Then the cones can be adjusted per normal procedure using a 15 mm cone wrench and a17 mm box end wrench on the outer nut. The bearing smoothness is not Campagnolo quality but they do seem adequate. The wheel took only slight adjustment on several spokes to bring it into true.Don't forget to order a spoke nut rim strip as they don't come with the wheel.I'm planning to use this wheel on rollers so they won't get the stress of rough road surfaces. They seem quite adequate for my intended use. So far I would buy them again.

I just bought this wheel and the matching front wheel as well. These replaced two old wheels on an early 1980s era road bike. The wheels arrived properly packaged and protected and were shipped with care so that they arrived undamaged. The wheels themselves were of good quality as compared to the originals they are replacing.A suggestion to the manufacturer is that the cones were screwed down slightly too tight on the bearings in the hubs so that you could feel a moderate binding when rotating the axle manually. Thus, in order to do use these wheels, and do the job properly, I had to open up the hubs by removing the locknuts and cones in order to inspect the interior. Fortunately I have done this before and had the proper cone wrenches. Upon inspection, the bearings were fine, but I also noticed that they were packed in hardly any grease. So I had to repack the hubs with fresh (and more) grease and adjust the cones pressing down on the bearings with just the right amount of torque to balance between them freely riding in the races without binding, but tight enough for no axle movement/rattle.This done, I added some Velox rim tape, some tubes, and new tires, and the project was done. I took it out today for about 10 miles and these wheels performed great. The product is excellent, however it would have been nice if the factory built the hubs with enough grease and set up cones and lock-nuts with the proper amount of pressure so that I would not have had to do that myself.Despite that nit, I rank it 5 stars for the quality of the product, the good price, the excellent shipping and packing, and the spoke tension being pretty good from the factory and needing only minor adjustment (1/4 turns on maybe 6-8 spokes for each wheel) to get them perfectly true.Edit, 07/14/2014: Been riding these for the past week and a half and I continue to be very satisfied with the performance, strength, and "feel" from these wheels. I haven't ridden them long yet, but so far there is no evidence of spoke problems like a couple other reviews. I'll post back in 4-5 more months and let you all know if I get any issues. I should have a couple thousand miles on them by then hopefully. I'm real happy with them so far!Edit, 04/01/2015: OK, after using these wheels for eight more months since my review, I have to stand by everything I wrote. No spoke breakage. Wheels only need occasional re-truing. I've gone through a set of tires and put down thousands of miles on these in those eight months, both on the road and some rollers, and also some on a turbo trainer.

Purchased this rear wheel to replace the original wheel on my early '80s Schwinn World Sport. This wheel looks nice and appears to be just as sturdy as the original. It also comes with a quick release skewer, though I prefer the look of the original one and will use that one. My complaint with this wheel is the axle, which as others have reviewed, was over-tightened. I held the axle between my hands and gave it a spin with my fingers to check for true (it is), but the wheel only spun about a half-turn and I could feel the axle grinding. Thankfully, I was able to get it to spin freely and without the grinding by loosening the axle slightly with two wrenches. The wheel doesn't come with a rim band over the spoke heads, so I moved the band from the original wheel to this new one and it was an exact fit. The spoke indents on the band from the original wheel exactly fit over the spokes on the new wheel. Also, the freewheel from the original wheel fit on this wheel without problem. Haven't ridden much on it, but no problems so far.
