I would strongly recommend buying the polished stainless version of these step bars. Amazon sent 3 sets of black powder coat and all were bent and damaged. I believe these bars are made from aluminum and because of that they don't fare well in shipping. The first set of stainless arrived just fine. Installed with no problems following the instructions, but if you need assistance, it's a phone call away. Much mistery surrounding the proper torque specs for body bolts, so I called Westin. They instructed to re-torque at 60 ft/lbs for GM 2013 Sierra/Silverado 1500. Use a torque wrench and hand tools. Air tools can cause damage to the body mounts. Also, you will need to slide the mounting bracket hardware provided outwards and away from the trucks frame. This should eliminate the creaking and noises most customers have complained about. Hope this helps!

I needed this so that my passengers would have an easier time traveling in my truck. If there was no urgency I would have returned this for the following reasons:-Directions are useless; going to their website is even more useless. Only way to get an idea on the correct way to install this is to find a 3rd party youtube video. Oh, and for those who might be wondering, yes, the two rails different (drivers vs. passenger side), look at the center mount hole on the rail to determine which side is which.-The 1/2'' bolt mount holes on the rails need to be re-tapped. At first I was wondering if the wrong size bolts came with the equipment. Since I don't have the tools to re-tap the hole I simply re-taped the hole with the bolt by muscling it through. I think the issue is with the coating they spray on the rail that fills up the bolt hole.-The product scratches easily and I fully expect to regret this purchase in the near future.-The plastic steps don't seat well on the rails and there are visible gaps under under parts of the steps.3 starts for a product that will work; -2 stars for a failure in customer service and product quality.

What a disappointment this product was. I typed in the year (1991) make (Dodge) and model (w250) before placing the order. This is a 1991 4WD Dodge 3/4 ton Diesel with regular cab. The product shipped, according to the instructions, was for a 1999 - 200-something Chevy Silverado with extended cab! Now this was a Xmas present and it needed to be installed before the recipient left town. I had arranged for someone to come out to my rural property to install. Luckily this man is a fabricator and welder. He had to take the bars (steps) back into town, cut them down because there were no mounts on the frame that matched up with the parts, reweld them, paint them, bring them back out to install. We also only had one bracket that would bolt on to the frame as is so he had to cut some and weld additional materal to the other to make this work. There was no way he could weld additional material to the "arms" that go into the brackets to place the step out far enough so that you can comfortably step onto it to get into the cab without having to charge more money than the original purchase cost of the product. This is crap! I could have sent the "gift" back but who is to say I wouldn't get a repeat of the same problem as I gave you correct ordering information in the first place!

I decided to buy these for my 2011 Chevy Silverado 2500 HD Crew Cab. At first I was a little nervous, but I figured I would give it a shot. I'm glad I did. The bars arrived in perfect condition, bubble wrap all over the place. The instructions were a bit "iffy", so I searched around and found a few good sites that had better information (etrailers.com is one of them). You definitely need to have the right tools to do the job, which I did. I used a 1/2" breaker bar to start the bolts out and then used a standard 1/2" (heavy duty) ratchet to install. I ran into no issues and everything lined up perfectly. One word of caution - make sure to torque the body bolts back to the recommended torque. If you don't have a torque wrench, you might try running down to your friendly mechanic and see if they'll either do it for you or let you borrow the tool (I've done both in the past - I'm a good customer, so there's never an issue).Total installation (both sides) took me about 90 minutes...of course, that included stopping for a cup of coffee and warming up my hands a couple of times (it's cold in Denver right now). I figure between the great price and installing these myself I saved quite a few $$, which I can now use to buy a new toy :)Recommendation - definite buy.

If I were writing this review while installing these things, I would have given them one star. It's not that they're complicated to install...If you have the right tools...Put away the monkey wrench, put away your standard ratchet...I had to make a trip to lowes to get a .5 inch big ole fat boy ratchet, and deep 13/16 socket...The problem wasn't with the nerf bars...It was trying to get the bolts off the 2010 sierra work truck. I even had to use a steel pipe on the wrench to get some more torque. I banged on my wrenches for about an hour before giving up and going to lowes to get the right tools for the job...once I had them, installation was pretty easy. Bars look great, and the kids are able to get in and out of the truck now with ease. pictures are pretty bad on the instructions as others have mentioned...so you may have to look'em up online as they're clearer. I had to do some trial and error to see which way some of the brackets were to be installed. Had I of had the right tools from the beginning, it would have taken about an hour total to get everything done. They're nice and sturdy, and look great too!
