My house has 89" ceilings so the 18" platform height lets me work without scraping my head. I'm used to using conventional ladders with 12" step intervals so I was always low or crouched between steps. I had a folding step stool break under me so I'm not going back to those although I saw one by Little Giant that looked better designed than others which mount steps on pop rivets. I considered Littlel Giant's Jumbo Step ladders which have uniformly large steps at heights that would work for me but the 2 step model only came in aluminum and I appreciate the safety of fiberglass. Also, I couldn't decide between the 2 step and 3 step models. I tried the 3 step model for the higher handle/tray but was uncertain if it would give the same sense of balance. I also noticed that the Jumbo Steps are 8.5" deep whereas this platform is 13" deep. I let the comfort of a larger platform and lower price decide in favor of this ladder. I'm not doddering so I don't need the full sized first step the Jumbo Step ladders have, yet. I'm online now trying to understand how the tray can work for me. The magnet and the portholes are apparent. The quart and gallon friction locks were a mystery.
