About Weaver

Founded by Harry A. Weaver in 1973 as the Fryburg Shoe Shop, Weaver grew from humble beginnings into the trusted manufacturer of a wide range of leather and nylon goods it is today. In the beginning, Harry concentrated on shoe repair, but before long he recognized the potential to expand into other markets. The fledgling company began handcrafting leather horse and cattle halters. The popularity of these halters led to the manufacture of more and more items prompting Weaver to become a driving force across various industries including equine, livestock, leather supply, pet, arborist, tool gear and custom manufacturing.

Looking for a Barry King maul with faster shipping. Decided to give Weaver a try. Maybe for the price it's as good as a Barry King? Well, These are Barry King mauls stamped with Weaver. If I had known that I would have ordered my other 16oz maul from Weaver. But secret squirrel is gonna squirrel. And if you are wondering what weight to get. If you're using pricking irons with more then four tines on leather 5mm-6mm thick. You're gonna need 24oz and up. You'll be beating the Hades out of it using a 16oz. 16oz works best for background and lighter stamping. 24oz has much more punch for the heavy stuff. 32oz is geared towards cut belt ends with heavy cutters. Thanks Weaver. Next time tell me who's supplying your mauls. You do want my money don't you? Dork.

The saying you get what you pay for is true. Even if you are an entry level leather craftsman. You want to buy the best tools you can afford. This is one to buy. Hand crafted and built to last a lifetime. Did I mention how comfortable it is in your hand? Let me tell you. Nothing compares to it very well designed.

I've wanted a quality maul for a long time. I finally took the plunge. I just need to get comfortable with it. I may need to order a lighter one.

This mallet is amazing. I’ve bought 3-4 cheap wooden mallets and they all cracked. I wish I bought this one first! It’s ergonomic, super well made, and well balanced. I highly recommend it for leather working.
