Product Description

This rope core whip will be your best gear, a sophisticated bull whip. Entirely handcrafted from 8 strands of genuine cowhide leather in a dark brown Color. Features a strong but well-balanced handle and a practical wrist strap. 18 inches long Fall and 8 inches cracker, comes with a cracking sound. This whip will be a great cowboy, western whip, or even a realistic movie prop. This elegant, powerful “whip” will put the power in your hand, and definitely make a loud crack. Inspired by the Indiana Jones whip, is well crafted and well balanced light weight whip. Although designed for experienced players, beginners may try their luck with it as well.

Whip Care and using instructions:

Upon delivery your whip will be quite stiff. Don’t worry as this is normal. As you use your whip it will “break in” as we say, becoming more supple over time and adapt to your style of cracking. Think about it like getting a new pair of leather shoes. They too might be a bit stiff and uncomfortable in the beginning, but as you wear them they’ll loosen up and form perfectly to your foot. Refrain from trying to speed up the breaking in process by bending the whip back and forth and putting large amounts of leather dressing-/conditioner on it. Just use it like you normally would and give the whip some time.

Whips should be used properly and given long service. Physical damage such as hitting on sharp objects, gravel, concrete etc, being jammed in doors or truck tailgates, or chewed by dogs or poddy calves, obviously will destroy a whip quickly.

Using the whip with excessive force,

As in seeking the loudest possible crack, will cause early breakage of falls and stretch the bolster of the whip. The usual and preferred crack is that attained with minimum force. A strong wrist action will over-stress the keeper on a whip or the junction on a bullwhip, and will cause early failure. Normal use of these whips should employ very little wrist force.

Style of Inside Construction of whip:

Bullwhip starts with a wood for the handle that provides both a solid foundation and weight to balance the whip while a rope core is an innermost layer inside of the whip which is attached with the wood. Then there is bolster over the rope core and wood handle. The overlay is done in 8, 12 or 16 plaits. All the minute details are taken into account to achieve the look and feel of the original whip.

Whip is well made but the fall had some natural leather kinks in it don't know if this will last very long. Also it didn't come with the care manual and 2 extra crackers as stated in description. I'm a novice so the manual would have been helpful.

The whip is very nice, but I wish I ordered a longer one. I ordered the 4', which is way too small. Trying to coil it up makes the handle stand out a lot being it it doesn't bend. Trying to force it to bend has caused the whip to lose it's shape permanently. Anyways, no fault of the whip, just do your self a favor and order at least 6 or 8 feet.

I can’t state this enough, this is REAL leather hide! I ordered 7 different “leather hide” products from Amazon and this is the first one that is actual leather hide. It fits comfortably in your hand, my wife was able to crack it at the first attempt and she never handled one. It balances nicely on your hand, and it’s sturdy but really well made.

I ordered this as a fun little practice whip for my girlfriend, she always watches me when I use my 8ft and 10ft. This is my first time purchasing from this company, I have to say I’m very impressed with the craftsmanship and style they use. I like its easy ability to crack. It's pretty stiff still, but I've saddle-soaped it and hung it by the fall so it should straighten out and soften with use. I've used bull whips since I was 12 years old (over 70 years ago) and this is among the top ones I've ever owned.
