Featuring a frosted surface and a wide viewing angle of 120 degrees, VCC LFB Series 3mm Round Rigid LED Panel Mount Light Pipes efficiently channel light from a surface-mount or through-hole LED to a display panel. They are available in a wide range of lengths, helping simplify PCB positioning in relation to the display panel. Ideal for use in audio/video settings, darkroom equipment, and a variety of other applications, these versatile light pipes require no physical connection to the LED, offering flexibility during assembly. The optical-grade polycarbonate construction maximizes light transmission, while the frosted surface diffuses light to provide uniform brightness and a soft glow. Designed for 0.118-inch/3mm diameter light pipe holes, these light pipes feature crushable ribs to ease installation and can be installed with an optional retainer (RTN_112 --sold separately) for added reliability in high-vibration environments. The VCC LFB Series Round Rigid LED Light Pipes are RoHS and REACH compliant and free of conflict minerals.

I bought a couple of opaque pi0 cases that include usb and lan interfaces but hid the activity light. I drilled a hole in the top of the case directly above the activity led and cut one of these to the right length to just reach the led. It produces a nice glow visible from an angle and a distance to see that the unit is on. I cut the thing with a pair of flush-cutters, they chipped slightly at the cut-point but it’s all good.
