If you have never used a butt pad and need one, this price can't be beat to see if you will actually use it. If you are an avid hiker and want one, this will not hold up and the foam gets squashed pretty easily, minimizing the cushioning benefit. I got my wife the Therm a Rest one and it still works like new, (great product) but cost 14X as much as this one that I got for myself. That said, this one is smaller and works fine to set in a damp tree stand where cushion is already provided and I just want to keep my butt dry. I'll be getting another Therm a Rest for our next hike though.

This foldable chair worked great on my latest backpack trip, lightweight, durable, inexpensive! I used it on snow, granite and wet logs and it was fine and dandy. The size was fine for me and my buddy wants to order one now. I offered to cut mine in half so we could both have a cushion but he didn't want any of that. He was just very impressed on how light and effective this little gem was to have in the pack for the breaks we took during the day. My wife was planning on ordering the name brand product but wants to try mine before she orders.

These are fantastic! You can sit on a damp log or cold rock with exceptional comfort. It is super-lightweight. It stays on the outside of my pack, so anytime I stop it's right there. After using mine I bought four more to give to friends and family. They are very cheap, but durable. Just order them way before you need them, because they come from China by boat. Give yourself a few weeks.

The pad, unfolded, is basically just 5/16" (8 mm) thick closed cell foam. However, it starts out twice that thick because of the molded bumps. The foam is formed so there's a raised pimple on one side, with a corresponding hollow dimple behind it. The pimples nest into the dimples of the next section in the pad when it's folded up. Most of the cushioning comes from your weight flattening the pimples when you press on it. I find that cushioning is adequate when I sit on the pad over a relatively smooth rock or log. I've got bony knees, though, so the cushioning isn't enough for prolonged kneeling on the unfolded pad; there just isn't much area under my knees (only a few pimples to flatten there). It's OK if the pad is folded to put multiple layers under your knees, so it's adequate for uses like gardening. Kneeling on the unfolded pad in my tent vestibule is how I get into or out of the tent, though, so I get frequent reminders of just how thin this pad really is. Given the low weight and cost, I have no real complaints.

I love these - so practical and light weight. I take one with me when I have a day out with the dog and use them on the garden chairs when having a coffee on a damp day with someone that wants to sit outside!

These are great! Just the right size and weight for me to take backpacking. Extremely lightweight, I can sit on one comfortably, or leave it folded up to sit or kneel down upon. Two of them together can be a ground shield for your core to lay down on for short people. I can use them as a seat, a kneeling pad for when I am working with a fire, and as a door mat outside my tent. So many uses!6/1/2017: Just got back from a trip to Alaska...and I still LOVE these pads. They kept my knees dry, my shoes dry, my butt dry, my bag dry....great deal for 2 bucks!

Works well for insulating against cold metal chairs, even though the cushioning effect is minimal. Folds into quarters, and slips easily into my music bag, and is extremely light.

It's unlikely that you will find this useful. It is small and thin. It is indeed 15" wide by 10 1/2" long and you're unlikely to be able to squeeze your seat onto it. It's undoubtedly sized based on Asian sizes and even a petite hiker of larger size is going to find parts of their body extending to the wet surface you're trying to avoid contact with. And it's rather thin as well. I found that I could feel any small irregularity under the pad.To give some sense of scale, I took a pic with a standard DVD case. I hope you will avoid the mistake I made in thinking that 15" by 10" was larger than it really is. Do yourself a favor and skip this cushion, especially since you have to wait weeks for it to arrive from China.

Chintzy and cheap. I'm afraid to sit on it as it will break. I will be giving to charity though I might just throw it out. I guess you pay for what you get. It was very cheap and not sure what it can be used for - certainly not for sitting on!
